Young U.S. show jumper Lucy Davis set the world on fire in the Netherlands on June 21, winning the pretigious Longines Grand Prix of Rotterdam aboard her trusty Barron. She beat a star-studded field that included heavy-hitting Europeans and it was just a week after she celebrated her graduation from Stanford University (Calif.). Photographer Shannon Brinkman was there to document it for the Chronicle—see her stunning photos of the class.

Also in Rotterdam, some up and coming U.S. dressage stars shone on the international stage, taking the bronze medal in the competitive Nations Cup. Shannon Brinkman brought us more lovely images of their excitement, elegant action and celebration!
Drama, gale force winds and flooding hit hard in Virginia, but the eventers didn’t back down. Back on home turf in Virginia, eventing stars took to the rolling turf of Great Meadow (Va.) where Jennie Brannigan scored an emotional win in the CIC*** with her long-time partner Cambalda and the Land Rover U.S. eventing team that was named for the upcoming Pan American Games had a very successful last outing. The Chronicle’s Lindsay Berreth was there for it and delivered great photos and everything you need to know.
Meanwhile, in Germany, U.S. rider Clark Montgomery held his own in a top field at the Luhmühlen CCI****, placing sixth as German star Ingrid Klimke took victory. Did you know that a series of photos shot by Shannon Brinkman helped clear up a dispute about Montgomery’s cross-country score? In other action, the young teenager who took the Devon Horse Show by storm, winning the grand prix there, seems to be on quite a roll, as she topped the $50,000 Summer In The Rockies Grand Prix this weekend as well. Kelli Cruciotti piloted Zidante to the blue ribbon in Colorado.
Aaron Vale took over the $35,000 Classic Company Grand Prix in Atlanta, winning on E.S. Finou 4. Manuel Torres prevailed in the $25,000 Swan Lake Kick-Off Grand Prix (Pa.), while
Out in California, Marc Grock took the blue in the $30,000 Markel Insurance Grand Prix at Blenheim June Classic III, riding Caretol. Grock said of the 11-year-old horse: “He’s not a beauty queen, but he’s the sweetest horse on the planet. He has jumped more clean rounds than many horses I’ve had over my lifetime. He tries every single class.”
