Barron Bests Them All In The Longines Grand Prix of Rotterdam

Rotterdam, the Netherlands—June 21

George Davis is getting quite a Father’s Day gift this year from his daughter Lucy: The Longines watch she won in today’s $233,059 Longines Grand Prix of Rotterdam.

Davis, 22, beat out 16 riders in the jump-off to take the title aboard 11-year-old Barron, her partner for team bronze at last year's Alltech World Equestrian Games. She zipped through the timers almost 0.4 seconds faster than 2014 Longines FEI World Cup winners Daniel Deusser and Cornet d’Amour of Germany.

“I had a little bit of luck today,” said Davis, Los Angeles, Calif. “My horse has a big stride and was careful, which meant that I could let the reins go for the last two jumps.”
