The online auction of Venezuelan show jumper Emanuel Andrade’s horses, which were seized by the U.S. Treasury Department, has ended.

Of the 14 horses for sale, eight were claimed by the end of the auction, which ran from Feb. 19-26. Six horses did not meet their reserve price: Quilina VD Laarseheide Z, Boy IV, Bon Jovi, Ricore Courcelle, Jenni’s Chance and Leonardo RGS. A representative from CWS Asset Management and Sales, which auctioned the horses, said normally items would be resold, but in this case the horses will go to the highest bidder from the original auction.

Bidding for Hardrock Z, Andrade’s Olympic, FEI World Equestrian Games and Pan American Games mount, ended at $282,000. VDL Stud announced they purchased the 16-year-old stallion with their American partner, Highpoint Farm, and that the Zangersheide (Heartbreaker—Carte Blanche Z, Carthago Z) will ship to the Netherlands as soon as possible to be available for breeding.

“I am very very happy for the VDL Stud on the purchase of Hardrock Z,” Andrade said in a WhatsApp message. “He was my horse of a lifetime and made my career! I wish everyone else good luck with the rest of the horses. This obviously has been very, very hard on me. I will continue my career in another country and appreciate all of the opportunities I have had.”
