USEF Announces Dressage Team Short List For Paris Olympics

The U.S. Equestrian Federation has announced the eight athlete-and-horse combinations that have been selected to the U.S. Dressage Team Olympic Short List for continued observation ahead of team selection for the Paris Olympic Games later this summer.

The following athletes and horses have been selected to the U.S. Dressage Team Olympic Short List and are listed in alphabetical order:

•    Katherine Bateson-Chandler (Wellington, Florida) and Haute Couture, a 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood (Connaisseur—Destiney, IPS Krack C) mare owned by Jennifer Huber and the rider

•    Anna Buffini (Rancho Santa Fe, California) and Fiontini, her own 14-year-old Danish Warmblood (Fassbinder—Rapitala, Romanov) mare

•    Adrienne Lyle (Wellington) and Helix, a 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood (Apache—Zeester T, Jazz) gelding owned by Zen Elite Equestrian Center; and Lars Van De Hoenderheide, a 13-year-old Belgian Warmblood (Negro— Taaika, Layout) gelding owned by Zen Elite Equestrian Center

•    Anna Marek (Dunnellon, Florida) and Fire Fly, a 14-year-old Dutch Warmblood (Briar Junior—Arieka, OO Seven) gelding owned by Janet Simile

•    Marcus Orlob (Loxahatchee, Florida) and Jane, a 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood (Desperado—Zandra, Metall) mare owned by Alice Tarjan

•    Endel Ots (Wellington) and Zen Elite’s Bohemian, a 14-year-old Westphalian (Bordeaux 28—Sunshine, Samarant) gelding owned by Zen Elite Equestrian Center

•    Steffen Peters (San Diego) and Suppenkasper, a 16-year-old Dutch Warmblood (Spielberg—Upanoeska, IPS Krack C) gelding owned by Four Winds Farm and Akiko Yamazaki

Athletes and horses must compete in a minimum of two CDIs between May 8 and June 25 and must compete in at least one of the following observation events: Le Mans CDI4* (France), Hagen CDI3* (Germany) and Rotterdam CDIO5* (the Netherlands). In the CDIO5* team competition, the combinations will be led by Chef d’Equipe Christine Traurig. Final team selection will be announced by June 25.

All nominations to the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team are subject to approval by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee.
