Default Fist Fight at Tyler TX Show?

I just heard that there was a fist fight between a certain BNT and the horse show vet at the Tyler, TX hunter jumper show last week. Can anyone confirm if that rumor is true?

While I find this topic somewhat funny, does it really matter?

In the scheme of things does it really matter? No, unless you are one of the persons involved in the fist fight, in which case it could matter.

Since I heard the story second hand and personally know both parties involved, I was wondering if it was true or if it was another horse show drama.

If you know both parties involved, then call one, or the other, and ask about it.
That would be the best way to the truth..

I don't know them well enough to call them and ask for their side of the "story".

But you just said you knew them personally. So if you know them personally then you should feel comfortable to call and ask. Instead of posting it on here.

Normally I enjoy your posts so I don't want to come off bitchy but this to me is just not something to post on a public board where one person already said they didn't know anything about it and was at the show. Why out them here? Especially if they are personally known to you. There's already enough tack trunk gossip as it is.

IMHO, much of what's discussed in this forum doesn't really *matter*, but it's still discussed. Plus, a fist fight at a horse show is more interesting to me than whether this color shirt will go with that color horse.

My first response to myself was *AWESOME*....

But I digress. Nothing showed up on a quickie Google search. Boo. Names would help.

My whole deal is that you can know the story without outing someone. Give the vague details of the story, not every single one. This is a BNT that was involved, and for that reason I'd rather not hear names.

    Anyone get my drift?

I'm with you on this one as well. It sounds like someone had a lapse in judgment. No horses were harmed in the filming of this factious incident. The end.

My brain is trying to come up with even the slightest reason why a trainer and a vet might get to the point of a fist fight... I got nothing.

Personally, I think it does kind of matter. I have a friend who is moving to Texas and is looking for a trainer. I think she would like to know if she's getting involved with someone who thinks it's ok to throw down at a horse show. Why should we not out a BNT that hits someone? Lack of restraint in a public place shows they have some underlying issues and I would not want to have my horse around that person.

Except that one person who was at the horse show already said they didn't hear of any such event. Research the person and go visit their farm. Take some lessons there before your move. That's your responsibility as a horse owner. The horse community is small. We all know who is cra-cra and who isn't out here and reputations speak volumes.

How would you like it if a mistake you made gets published on the internet and when you search your own name it keeps popping up? And affecting your business?

I also remember how everyone poo-poo'd on the EHV-1 thread saying it was hearsay until all hell broke loose. Who said they were at the show? Monter said that they had friends there and no one mentioned it. There is no actual person saying they were at that show.

Add (to what Circus Peanuts said above) that one can be at a horse show and not know about something going on somewhere else on the grounds. Some people at horse shows mind their own business and simply take are of their animals and such. So someone being at the show and not knowing about it does not mean it did not happen.

ETA - Not saying this did or did not happen. Just saying not knowing is not proof it did not.

I'm pretty sure we should not be allowed to hang out for the safety of others. LOL!

Really? I agree getting to the point of throwing ounces is ridiculous, but...

"Fix this horse so I can show it in a couple of hours."
"Not happening. Horse must be scratched."
"Not an option. Give it drugs, it WILL show."
"Absolutely not! I care for the well-being of the animal, not your payment to me to do whatever it takes to make it a crippled mess."
