Weanling VS the SPRINKLER
So... my six month old filly has been going through a bit of a bratty stage lately. Nothing major, nothing to worry about, but she's turned out with a doting older gelding and she is just convinced that SHE is the be-all and end-all of the world right now. (her manners are fine btw, she's not THAT stupid)
So... miss Filly hates getting wet. Hates it with a PASSION. (Guess it's a good thing she lives in the desert then...*eye roll*) When it's 115 and she's getting a shower, it's grudgingly acceptable, but that doesn't mean she LIKES it!
This morning it was 46 degrees out, and she was turned out in the arena. The sprinklers came on right where she was standing. (How DARE they!!)
So 12.2 hands of INDIGNANT baby filly WHIPPED around to face that sprinkler. Ears flat, she stomped her little baby feet and she TOLD that sprinkler to STOP THIS VERY INSTANT! This is was COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR!
So.. the sprinkler, not in the least bit cowed...
squirted her right in the FACE.
She instantly ceded the point to the sprinkler and ran over for some comfort and drying off. (she's a good kid all in all)
But the look on her face when the sprinkler "fought back" Man... if I'd only had a camera....
Never a dull moment around here. Ya know??

Yes, I smell like a horse. No, I don't consider that to be a problem.

How come there's never a video camera around when you need it?

Oh my goodness does she EVER! And she's SO much like her mother was when she was young it's hysterical. Almost every week I tell her some variation on: "Sweetie, your mother tried that 15 years ago. It didn't work for her then, and it's probably not going to work for you now, but... feel free to give it a try" ;-p
She's a lifer for sure. :-)

Heh, she's tried that one too. Farrier just straddled her and kept rasping. She scrambled to her feet and gave us the most DISGUSTED look. There was a while there when she was really young where we jokingly called her "The Fainting Goat."
As in: "hey, the farrier's here. Better go get the fainting goat for him."
