Default Dressage saddle on a budget?

I am currently riding in an older Wintec Isabell, and after having for a few months I have found that I am really fighting the tack. While riding in it I can't keep my lower leg on, and it only is in the Isabell that this happens. I know of several other people this has happened to as well.

After riding in my trainer's County Competitor I can instantly put my lower leg on and not have it move a hair. I love the narrow twist, and the fact that it fit my long leg. My horse loved it as well in the #4 fit.

I only have about $800 to spend on a dressage saddle because I am going off to college in the fall. Does any one know of any saddles similar to the County Competitor in my price range? I have found a few under $800, but not in a 17.5 #4 fit. The Stubben Tristan seems similar in style, does anyone know if they are similar to the County Competitor at all?

if it's the narrow twist, you might look at passier and kieffer. if you have some pics of your horse, or know which year county you're using, that would help.

Check out www.usedsaddles.com. They have a used 17 1/5 medium County County Competitor right now for $895, and lots of others as well. Plus, they'll send them on trial, and if they don't work out you're only out the shipping, instead of the cost of an unreturnable saddle from eBay. I got my saddle from them. Very helpful staff.

    Good luck!

Just for clarification, the EBAY saddles I gave links to are all returnable

I have a County Competitor as well and love it.. I am selling mine, but the seat and width size are not what you are looking for.. maybe try the County representative in your area, sometimes they have great deals on used tack. Good luck

Yep, which is great, but not always the case with items on eBay

I just picked up a county #4 w/a 17 seat for $200. It is in mint condition. It was brown when I got it but I redyed it black and it looks band new. Just saw another on craigslist for $375ish, will see if I can find the link
