There are a number of wonderful para riders in the US that have similar stories that also need funding.

Perhaps donating money to the http://uspea.org in general to assist ALL who would represent the US in London?

Wow, what an inspiring story. I'll help, and am trying to figure out how to post the story to Facebook to get the word out. mhjco - I'm not sure I understand your post. There's more than one way to raise money. Courtney King is raising a lot of money on her own. I'd like to think we can help the "little people" too.

What a great story. I sent some money to help out. I have such a soft spot for those in the therapeutic/para world. I'm in the process of setting up a long-term lease of my Friesian/App cross to be used by older kids in a therapeutic program. Anything to help out those who need it.

I am privileged to know Donna personally. I can tell you that any donation you can make is worth it, because I have NO DOUBT she will win in London if we can get her there.

Donna is without a doubt the most dedicated person to this sport I have EVER met. She had to train herself to BREATHE without a ventilator in order to ride. She works out every morning to build up the muscles to stay upright in the saddle and she rides multiple horses every day.

    Go Donna!! Do us proud

I think her story is inspiring. I hope she is able to be selected. I hope she is able to get sufficient funding to get to London.

But I also know several other Para riders. And I believe all of them deserve more support than what our National organization is able to give. Most of our Para riders have little to no outside support. (Unlike our other teams.)

There are trials at Houston next week. The selection trials are at Gladstone so ALL Para riders who want to go to London must travel there. Just like the selection trials for our Dressage team. Some from the left coast as well as those much closer.

The power of this board is incredible. I am just hoping that many could benefit from this power.

I just wish I could support all of them.

Here's another rider looking to go to the olympics. She is on the main para site too (but with a different horse). This is the horse that she just started leasing (and it has a link to her website too).

I agree with MJHCO - ALL of the para riders need support. None are more special than others to me. Go to uspea.org - read about all the aspiring para riders trying to get to London.
All have to fund raise to get themselves to Gladstone for the selection trials.

I am sponsoring a rider by giving her a horse - but she is from Seattle and needs to raise over 10K to get the horse to Gladstone and back for the selection trials. She needs assistance too - as they all do!. You can read her blog and funding needs at the link below

Mike, I just saw on Rebecca Yount's thread that Donna won 1a (though she only met $3000 of her $5000 fund-raising goal).

Yes, let's be SURE to remember the "little people" too. I think that is so, so important. These people have worked very hard for a very long time.

If my horse was suitable I would let her be used in a second. When I had a NARHA program we used our GP horse and our PSG horse in the program, and another pony that we owned was also our main hippotherapy mount.

Maybe we can find Jane Clark-like sponsors for all the riders? I'm going to do what I can.

    Default Donna Ponessa

Frustrated that Donna Ponessa's Indiegogo campaign has ended, and sad that it did not meet it's short term goal, I found an even
more inspiring video at http://better.tv/view/women-how-insp...ara-equestrian with a link to this amazing woman's website where one can help get one of the "little people" to London. Unlike Courtney
King, who can somehow get away with her $100 minimum demand for help...., I think the other Para competitors who
have worked so hard and so long for this opportunity, with no
financial support from the organization would be touched, grateful, and beyond appreciative of any help regardless
of what one can afford or what they wish to give.

Erin Alberda (http://www.gofundme.com/f8xec - also linked in Honeylips' post) is a friend of mine and also a wonderfully deserving rider! Her dedication to this sport is absolutely incredible and inspirational. I feel so lucky to have gotten to know her and to get more familiar with para-dressage. What a bunch of amazing people/riders. I can't wait to cheer the team on from across the pond this summer!

Why does this matter? Get out there and fund raise for the person you want to see go to the Olympics...Courtney's financial situation should have no bearings on your fund raising campaign.
