Why is it malnourished horses always seem to have overly nourished owners. Ever notice that?

Glad the horse was found, and I hope these two get what they deserve.

Wow! Guess the good guys not only wear white hats, they now have video surveillance cameras.

Hope the horse does find a home. Probably will now that he's a TV "star."

The horse is at Riverside AC on VanBuren Dr. This happens quite a bit. There really isn't much for horses to eat down there. Lots of Bamboo, weeds, cattails, etc. Pigs (potbellied, wild, etc.) are all over the place too. They can be really scarey/aggressive.

It is rumored (and I don't doubt that this could be going on) that some folks go down to the riverbed looking for abandoned horses to take home, feed for a bit and then run through the next auction.

The one across from In-n-out? I havent seen the new facility and I didn't know they had horses there.

I'm actually surprised that there haven't been more cases of horse theft happening. It seems there are no limits to the horrible things people do to animals. It's truly depressing... thank god for people like you that help out the way that you do.

Its just so sickening to think that they probably won't even have to serve any jail time for this. If the punishment were more severe maybe that would cut down on all this crap!!!!!

Yes. That's the one. They have several horses there now in need of homes besides the one that made the news. They do list the horses on Pet Harbor, but the pictures aren't great, info is limited and not always accurate (non-horse folks post the info I think). Here's the link to Riverside AC: http://rcdas.org/home/index.php?opti...d=38&Itemid=20

Once you arrive at the Pet Harbor site, under Animal Type, select OTHER and then search. I don't know how often it is updated.

Thats sad. And the two guys who dumped the horse are denying it? really? You've been caught on camera with the horse, and then coming back without it.

WN- did you hear about the @$$holes that tried to steal the kids horse in the riverbed? I think it was last summer. They tried roping the horse and the kid was able to get away? UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Also I sent you a pm a couple of weeks ago about wanting to donate some stuff. Cleaning out the tack room and I have some extra blankets and halters...

Rumor has it that this boy will be leaving Riverside County Department of Animal Services on Saturday. He will be going to a place where he will heal, be treated fairly and become the best he can be. Will update once he has "left the building".

Apparently, there have been several offers of homes for this guy. He is a really nice, friendly horse and looks to humans for attention despite being banged around when he tried to follow the guys who dumped him. Big boned and I wouldn't be surprised if he was more of a Warmblood than a TB.

On Monday, 5/23/2011, I took an X-large fly mask over and put it on him. He was fine with putting it on and such a friendly guy. The wounds on his face, chest, flanks etc. need to be addressed. I did not see any evidence of topical medications on these wounds.

The horse that was abandoned in the river bed in Riverside, CA has been released to Second Chance Ranch in Elma, WA.

He will spend time with Cathy (fugly) in Los Angeles, CA being rehabbed and cared for.
