Aug 28, 2017 - 11:29 AM

It was a weekend full of amazing performances as some of the best show jumpers and dressage riders in the world battled it out for medals in the Longines FEI European Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden on Aug. 22-28.

The Irish show jumping team—down to just three riders for the final rounds—put in amazing rounds to clinch a historic gold. Read all about it on COTH and see Cian O’Connor’s round on Good Luck that clinched the title for them:

Then, hometown favorite Peder Fredricson led the individual show jumping standings from the very first round and finished just how he’d started—clean and in front. It was a emotional gold for Fredricson and H&M All In, the horse competitor Cian O’Connor called “probably the best horse in the world.” Read the story and watch Fredricson’s last round:

The drama continued in the dressage, as Isabell Werth made a clean sweep of the medals, leading the German team to gold and then claiming individual gold in both the Special and the freestyle (90.98%) with Weihegold OLD. But young stars Sonke Rothenberger and Catherine Dufour were hot on her heels—Rothenberger also scored over 90 percent, finishing just fractions behind Werth in the freestyle.
