Gothenburg, Sweden—March 25

Sometimes a winning speed round looks rushed and chaotic, as riders race around the turns and take chances on their distances. Penelope Leprevost’s winning trip in the Longines FEI World Cup Show Jumping Final speed leg was not that way. Leprevost and Vagabond de la Pomme floated their way to a deceptively fast round (63.78 seconds) over fellow French rider Simon Delestre on Qlassic Bois Margot (66.04 seconds).

Gothenburg, Sweden—March 25

Today the Longines FEI World Cup Show Jumping Final kicks off in Sweden, and we’ve compiled all that you could need to know before the first horse jumps.

Who’s here? And who’s not?

Just as in the dressage side of the competition, there are some headliner riders who qualified for the Final but declined to compete. It’s an Olympic year, and some riders are choosing to focus on their preparation for the Rio Olympic Games.

VDL Wizard’s road to the top of the sport has been anything but straightforward. But rider Callan Solem has never doubted that he had the heart to go all the way, and he’ll prove her right when the two make their debut together at the Longines FEI World Cup Final.

Who’s headed to Gothenburg, Sweden, for the Longines FEI World Cup Show Jumping Final on March 23-28? Seven riders are invited from the top finishers on the East Coast, and three from the West Coast. If a qualified rider declines to attend, the spot is offered to the next-ranked U.S. rider on the list.

The qualifying classes are over, and here’s how things look for the Longines North American League…

It was a test that the legendary Flexible passed with flying colors.

After winning Friday’s $25,000 Smartpak Grand Prix, rider Rich Fellers and owners Harry and Mollie Chapman targeted him for the $50,000 Osphos Grand Prix on Sunday. They wanted to see how the 20-year-old veteran handled the bigger challenge.
