•    Suzy Stafford, Bear, Del., and her 2009 FEI World Combined Pony Driving Championships bronze medal partner, Courage To Lead, competed for a final time together and won their third USEF Single Pony National Championship.
“Katy” will be moving on to life as a broodmare and possibly competing in lower level driving events with owner Beverly Lesher of Harrisburg, Pa.

•    Fritz Grupe, Stockton, Calif., was happy he changed his plans and didn’t go fishing in Alaska after winning the USEF Single Horse National Championship with Uminco, an 8-year-old Royal Dutch Warmblood.
“This is his third time as a single; he’s a great horse,” said Grupe. “He may be a better single horse than a pairs horse. It’s a decision we’ll have to make.”

•    Tracey Morgan and her trio of Dartmoor Pony mares—Farnley Coquette, 11, Lizwell Gambling Queen, 13, and Single Tree Tabitha Twitchit, 12—led the USEF Pair Pony National Championship from start to finish with a final score of 130.40.
“My mares came into cones at a gallop,” said Morgan, Beallsville, Md., with a laugh. “I’m very pleased with all my mares, it was a fun moment.”
