Following the conclusion of the U.S. Equestrian Federation selection trials for the U.S. show jumping team, the USEF named the long list for the U.S. show jumping team for the 2012 Olympic Games.
The athlete/horse combinations are required to compete at two of the four observation events, which include the Del Mar National Horse Show (Calif.), the Kentucky Spring Horse Show (Ky.), the Devon Horse Show (Pa.) and Spruce Meadows (Alberta).
Following the completion of these observation events, up to 12 nominated entries will be submitted to the Fédération Equestre Internationale on June 17. The final entries will be submitted no later than July 6.
Prior to the selection trials, the USEF Ad Hoc Committee on Selection approved Laura Kraut on Cedric, Beezie Madden on Coral Reef Via Volo and McLain Ward on both Antares F and Sapphire to the long list.
The 2012 Olympic Games will take place July 27 – Aug. 12 in London, and the Chronicle will be there to bring you photos, interviews and more.
