Though it’s closed to the public, you can still get your fill of sporting art from the National Sporting Library and Museum in Middleburg, Virginia. Museum staff put together a virtual tour of “Leading the Field: Ellen Emmet Rand.”

Rand, who painted an official presidential portrait of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, held her first solo exhibition in 1936 at The Sporting Gallery and Bookshop in New York and is considered one of the most successful professional female artists in the United States. The NSLM exhibit includes many pieces from the original show as well as personal works of Rand’s family and friends.
