Jurta M, an 11-year-old Thoroughbred mare ridden by Polish rider Jerzy Krukowski, was euthanized following a cardiac event while competing on the cross-country in the CIC** at the Baborówko Horse Show Sale (Poland) on Sept. 29.

“The accident has happened in the flat gallop between the fences,” read a statement put out by organizers. “The horse suffered from a heart attack. The rider wasn’t injured in the accident. Vet and med services were in place immediately.”

Krukowski had been competing Stadnina Koni Moszna’s mare (Montbard—Judema, Demon Club) at the two-star level since 2016.
