Grand Prix Winner Rebroff 6 Dies In Stall At AGDF

Rebroff 6, a 12-year-old gelding owned by Hof Kasselmann GmbH & Co. KG, died suddenly on the showgrounds at Equestrian Village at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center during the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida, on Jan. 30.

The horse was found in its stabling at 11:30 a.m. The Fédération Equestre Internationale official veterinarian for AGDF as well as the treating veterinarian were on-site immediately. The horse did not die in the course of competition.

The day before, on Jan. 29, the gelding made his debut with new rider Frederic Wandres, winning the Grand Prix CDI3* with a 69.76 percent to qualify them for the freestyle. Insa Hansen of Germany previously competed the horse, showing him in two CDI3* and one CDI4* last fall.

While the cause of death is unknown, it is a suspected cardiac event. The horse will be sent to the Kissimmee, Florida, pathology laboratory for a necropsy per FEI regulations.
