Elkton, Md.—Oct. 21

With the wind whipping and temperatures hovering in the low 40s, this morning’s final horse inspection at the Dutta Corp. Fair Hill International was an exercise in kite flying of the equine variety.

Several horses did their best Arabian impressions as they pranced down the jog strip after catching a glimpse of the flags flapping, but all horses passed in both the CCI** and CCI***.

There were a few tense moments in the CCI** as Courtney Sendak’s DGE TheManInGlass and Jan Byyny’s Volcan de Caverie were held, but both passed upon reinspection.

Jill Thomas withdrew OBOS Darko before the final horse inspection, leaving 48 to jump.

In the CCI***, Ashley Kehoe’s Kiltealy Toss Up was held but passed upon reinspection. Thirty-three horses will show jump.

Show jumping begins for the CCI** at 10 a.m., and CCI*** show jumping starts at 1 p.m.
