You might know all about Jennie Brannigan’s longtime partnership with Cambalda and her recent victory in The Fork CIC*** (N.C.), but here are five things you might be surprised to know about her.

If she wasn’t a professional eventer…

“I would like to be a professional in some other extreme sport, but I probably couldn’t be. I like writing, so I’d love to do some sort of media-based following of extreme sports. I’m an adrenaline junkie. I would love to be a jump jockey but that’s probably a pipe dream.” Brannigan did get to fullfill her dream of riding in a race in Aiken, S.C., recently, but it was a flat race.

Jennie’s life has an extreme edge.

“I newly really enjoy CrossFit and EDM [cardio workouts] because of the Pollards. I’m a big fan of that,” said Jennie, who was inspired to start by fellow eventer Michael Pollard and his wife Nathalie. She also loves to ride her street bike and though she used to snowboard, it’s hard to find the time now and she misses being able to do it more.

She loves Indian food.

Her favorite dishes? Peshwari naan and chicken tikka masala. When she’s not grabbing Indian for dinner, she says she eats with her trainer, show-jumper Scott Keach, and his partner Max Corcoran four nights a week at their Ocala farm during the winter season.

When you spot Brannigan walking her cross-country course with headphones in, what is she listening to?

Probably her favorite music, rap, to get pumped up.

She has two furry sidekicks.

“I have two dogs: one wiener dog named Molly and my oldie-but-goody rat terrier Bizy. She’s been with me for years. She’s seen me through a lot of good times and a lot of moving, and we’ve been through a lot of bad times so she’s getting older now. I actually named her after Karen O’Connor’s dog Bizy because I never thought I’d be around her when I was a kid. So I named her Bizy because of Karen’s dog!”
