The Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games are written in the history books, but we’re still re-living the amazing moments that etched themselves onto our minds. Here are a few of the photos that really stand out as our favorites from our two weeks in Rio…

Oh what could have been! I was in a perfect “cover shot” spot to shoot dressage leaders William Fox-Pitt and Chilli Morning, and I got the shot, but unfortunately they picked up 20 penalties later on course. I think this is the photo that says, “Rio Olympics.” Photo by Lindsay Berreth

Charlotte Dujardin was beside herself after her record-smashing freestyle ride on Valegro, knowing it would be their swan song championship performance together. Photo by Mollie Bailey

Maikel van der Vleuten’s Verdi and groom Lisa Parkka enjoyed a stroll and a graze shortly after they arrived at the National Equestrian Center. Photo by Mollie Bailey

Multi-tasking! France’s Karim Laghouag jumped through this difficult combination, and when he heard the French fans cheering, turned to the side about three strides after jumping the log in the water and gave them a big smile before he galloped away up the hill to a clear round. The fans were giddy with excitement after that! Photo by Lindsay Berreth

The Dutch had their national pride all wrapped up, down to their fingernails. Photo by Mollie Bailey

Severo Jesus Jurado Lopez and Lorenzo were crowd favorites in the Grand Prix freestyle. Just look at the cute curled lip on Lorenzo! He did every test like that. Photo by Lindsay Berreth

When you find a good spot to shoot from on cross-country, you want to stay there. I loved the last water jump, but when it became apparent that not many riders were making it that far, I had to abandon my plan!

Before I did, Australia’s Sam Griffiths and Paulank Brockagh came through. This is one tough mare, and they became one of my favorite pairs of the event. Photo by Lindsay Berreth

The stars: They’re just like us! We spotted Laura Graves borrowing Verdades’ cooler on one chilly morning. Photo by Mollie Bailey

Joao Victor Marcari Oliva’s mount Xama Dos Pinhais had an amazing double braid. When he walked his cresty neck swayed back and forth to reveal the braids! It’s a shame he didn’t make it to the freestyle because he had one of the most fun ones at the Pan American Games last summer. Photo by Lindsay Berreth

The U.S. dressage team were each other’s biggest supporters. Here they congratulate Laura Graves on her personal best score in the freestyle with Verdades. Photo by Lindsay Berreth

Olympic regulations kept ringmaster extraordinaire Pedro Cebulka from showing off his trademark enthusiastic fashion sense, but he snuck in a bit of fun on the final day of competition. Photo by Mollie Bailey

I was too close to the water jump on the first day of jumping, so I played with perspective. Here’s one of my favorites, Emerald and Harrie Smolders from the Netherlands. Photo by Lindsay Berreth
