The U.S. Equestrian Team Foundation has awarded eventer Heather Morris with the 2011 Amanda Warrington Grant.
“I’m pretty shocked, actually!” said Morris, who won the award in 2009 as well. “To win it once is pretty incredible, but to win it a second time is really shocking.”
The grant, which provides up to $5,000 for the recipient to use for training costs, is awarded through the Amanda Pirie Warrington Fund, founded in Amanda’s memory after her death in a riding accident in 1997. It serves to support developing event riders who show the potential to represent the United States in the future.

Morris is based at Gold Chip Stables in Bartonville, Texas, with Olympic three-day eventer Mike Huber. She was recently named to the USEF Eventing High Performance Committee’s 2011 Developing Rider List, and she completed the Rolex Kentucky CCI**** this spring aboard Slate River.
Morris looks forward to trying for the Pan American Games this fall in Guadalajara, Mexico, aboard Sportsfield Maisie Grey, but noted that, “I really just take one day at a time. The last couple of years have been pretty rough with injured horses and ups and downs, so I try not to plan anymore!”
