
U.S. rider Kent Farrington and Gazelle were the big winners in Saturday’s $375,000 Pan American Cup in a fast and competitive seven-horse jump-off at Spruce Meadows. Conor Swail (Ireland) and Grafton finished second, and Andrew Ramsay, also of the United States, and California 62 placed third.

It was a picture perfect day for the biggest event of the Spruce Meadows Continental CSI 5* Tournament, and it was a storybook ending for Peter Lutz and Robin de Ponthual, who scored their biggest victory together in the $375,000 CP Grand Prix.
“It’s exciting to be here, doing this level, with this great horse,” Lutz said. “This horse has been great for us for almost two years now. He’s been stepping up to this level. He’s showing us he can do it. But to actually come here and win is thrilling for us.”

The Spruce Meadows Masters Tournament concluded with a momentous day of show jumping as Great Britain’s Scott Brash jumped to victory in the $1.5 Million CP International riding superstar mount Hello Sanctos. With the win, Brash became the first rider to conquer the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping.

The Olympic Games are in their back yard next year, so the Brazilian team is on a mission to up their game. Taking the win in the $300,000 BMO Nations Cup at the Spruce Meadows Masters in their very first appearance in the class was a sign they’re well on the way.
