There aren't many venues more eye-catching and lovely than the Longines Global Champions Tour of Miami Beach (Fla.).

Two mares, two flawless efforts, two vastly different styles.

It came down to two superstars in the $500,000 Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Miami Beach on Saturday afternoon, and while neither put a foot wrong in the six-horse jump-off, in the end, it was the smaller, hotter Lintea Tequila who gave rider Edwina Tops-Alexander the gold medal in the Longines Global Champions Tour’s opening leg, just steps from South Florida’s east coast shoreline.

Daniel Deusser wasn't sure how the jump-off of the $130,000 American Invitational was going to work out for him. “It was a big jump-off. I actually didn’t have the fastest horse, so I was a little bit nervous going in,” Deusser said.

Out of a starting field of 49, there were 14 horses qualified for the jump-off. “I thought I had to do something special to win. At the end, I was also a little bit lucky. A few were faster and had one down, and I won, so I’m really happy about that," Deusser said.

There aren't many more spectacular settings for show jumping than the Longines Global Champions Tour of Miami, where horses jump right on the beach just feet from the waves! (Don't worry, they're not actually on the beach sand—they jump on a ring with specialized footing installed over the beach just for the week!)
