“Drinks are on you tonight!” yelled New Jersey-based trainer Emil Spadone as he drove past Margot Peroni and Orlon on his way back to the barn.
In fact, nearly everyone Peroni passed was saying something to the same effect.
They had good reason to, as the winner of the Platinum Performance $250,000 Hunter Prix Final, she was leaving HITS-on-the-Hudson VIII with a $75,000 payday.
The Fédération Equestre International awarded a CSI 5* ranking to the Saugerties $1 Million Grand Prix, presented by Wells Fargo (N.Y.). This is the first year that the show’s annual $1 million grand prix will be run under FEI rules.
Charlie Jayne smoked the competition in the Great American $1 Million Grand Prix with Chill R Z. Check out his flawless first round, then watch all six competitors jump off, with six rounds from Baronez (Kirsten Coe, fifth), Ohlala (Lauren Hough, fourth), Aristotles V (Jonathan McCrea, sixth), Rothchild (McLain Ward, second), Chill R Z and VDL Wizard (Callan Solem).
