It was a quiet affair, just a few people and a horse headed up to the ring to show during the Gulf Coast Sunshine Classic V (Miss.). It was just a 1.00-meter training jumper class. There weren't any headlines being made or big checks handed out.

But for Camille Maynard, it was a big step and an emotional return.

For most riders, winning a grand prix would be the main focus of their day. But for Andy Kocher, his time in the show ring is a short respite between selling horses. Lucky for him, he’s gotten quite good at both.

Wilhelm Genn was enjoying an excellent Sunday before he even set foot in the Grand Prix Field at the Gulf Coast Winter Classic IV today, March 7. This morning he coached his son Ryan, 18, to first place in the $15,000 Nordic Lights High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper classic on his Poco 3.

Catherine Rinehart admitted a fair amount of luck went into her win in the 2010 $10,000 The Chronicle Of The Horse/USHJA Hunter Derby, held March 5 during the Gulf Coast Magnolia Classic IV in Gulfport, Miss. It was lucky she got the ride on Primera at the beginning of the week, lucky she had an earlier ride in the hunter derby to figure out her plan for the course, and even a little lucky she rode Primera four years ago when he was just a first year green horse so she knew what to expect with him.

Michael Tokaruk is really making a name for himself on the grand prix circuit these days, particularly with his 13-year-old Holsteiner Lord Byron. They proved their speed and precision couldn’t be matched on Feb. 25 after topping the $25,000 EMO Grand Prix of the Gulf Coast National in Gulfport, Miss.

The young rider dominates in four divisions during the Mississippi winter circuit.

If you collected all of the rosettes that Aleece Jarman won at the Gulf Coast Winter Classics this year, held Feb. 4-March 15 in Gulfport, Miss., the colorful mass could probably bury her, and it would likely weigh more than she does. That’s because Jarman, arguably the busiest rider on the six-week circuit, isn’t a professional adult—she’s a 12-year-old pony rider.

Keri Rankin and the talented bay lead from start to finish over a big field.

Keri Rankin found her way to the top of the $10,000 ASG Software Solutions USHJA International Hunter Derby via Crossroads. She guided the elegant bay gelding to the blue in the class, held Feb. 27 during the Gulf Coast Magnolia Classic, Feb. 25-March 1 in Gulfport, Miss.
