When Marie-Gabrielle Bronsard first saw Canso De La Mancha in a field near Montreal, she didn’t see much.

A 2-year-old Thoroughbred-Paint cross who was just a companion to a warmblood foal, the gelding didn’t seem like the sporthorse type.

Looking for a project for any discipline, Bronsard took him home as a project horse, and he’s turned out to be more than she ever would have expected.

This weekend, they contested their first one-star at the Jaguar Land Rover Bromont CCI, and are currently in 11th place after jumping a double-clear cross-country round on Saturday.

Before this weekend, Kylie Lyman had never contested a CCI***, but at the end of cross-country day at the Jaguar Land Rover Bromont CCI, she’s suddenly found herself on top of the leader board with Lup The Loop.

If that wasn’t enough, she’s also standing in third with Sacramento, giving her two out of four horses in the division to jump double-clear across Derek Di Grazia’s track.

Buck Davidson has been coming to the Jaguar Land Rover Bromont CCI since as long as he can remember, and before that too.

Davidson’s father Bruce competed at the 1976 Olympic Games, for which the Bromont Olympic Equestrian Centre was built, which just so happened to be the year he was born.

Buck’s competed at every level at Bromont, and won the CCI* and CCI**, and he’s got his eyes on the CCI*** this weekend.

He’s off to a great start with Sherrie Martin’s The Apprentice, earning the leading dressage score today of 45.9.

We checked in with some more riders and their cuddly companions.
