Where to begin? I haven’t written in far too long, so I’ll try to catch you all up with our exploits across the pond…..

I guess I last left off with show jumping to go at Luhmuhlen—oops! Let’s give a brief summary since then…

• Missie jumped great at Luhmuhlen and finished on her dressage score. Not too shabby to finish a three-star on a 47. Pity the others did better and that only got us 11th place.

Well as I thought might happen, I got a little busy, a little exhausted, and searching for internet in Europe is not as easy as it is in the States! Sorry for the delay in writing, but here’s the Luhmuhlen report…

Saturday morning came as early as it always does. Missie’s time was 9:57, so that meant breakfast being served four hours prior and no hay, much to her disappointment.

Another day of dressage, and it was a good one. It started off with Jennie’s dressage. Given that just before they rang the bell for her to enter, a billboard and half the dressage arena blew down, I thought Jennie was amazing. She is a true showman/woman. Ping was quite lit up starting his test but managed to control himself, and Jennie looked almost to be smiling as she went into canter. She and Ping are in 17th after the dressage.

The jog was yesterday and started at 5 p.m., so at around 2, I decided that I would start braiding. I did Ernie first, and the decision to pull his mane just a couple of days ago was a really good one for when he was just being ridden, but for braiding not so much!

Please excuse the gap in blogging—once we moved to the showgrounds, it took a while to find an internet connection. But here’s the update…

Breakfast isn’t served till 8 a.m. because it’s Saturday!

I got up this morning and sat outside the breakfast area of the hotel, waiting for them to open the doors, only to realize—when the other girls came down the stairs and asked why I didn’t have coffee yet—that the kitchen wouldn’t open till 8 a.m. Aaaaaaagh.

Do you speak English???

This seems to be the starting point of any conversation here in Germany.

Well, apart from being harassed yesterday morning by the hotel manager regarding the size of my massive coffee mug (I don’t go anywhere without it) all is good. I had to defend myself against the giant-sized manager after he was unimpressed that I had filled the entire contents of one of their coffee pots into my mug.

Well after a brief 24 hours, door-to-door, we made it!

Well we made it to JFK airport!!! Ernie (Pawlow) and Missie (Andromaque) traveled in style, and I think they enjoyed their business class ride. All they would have needed was air conditioning and more snacks to bump them up to first class on this leg of the trip.

I started just before 6 a.m. on Monday so that they could get one last turn-out before their trip began. Of course, we gave them one last jog before putting them out for an hour, and we couldn't have been happier with how they looked.
