  • 3 year old wolfhound bitch and heat issue

My wolfhound has come into season for the third time-the first 2 had a 6 month interval, this current one just under 5 months after the last.
She exhibit all usual sighs, and the stud gets restless and literally foams at the mouth but she rejects him. All ok I guess, but even from day 10-20 she refuses the any dog.

    Any ideas? Thanks

You need to progesterone test to known when is the right time to breed her--whether natural or via AI. Some dogs are lousy at actual live cover

Yes, this. Lots of animals (and humans) have fertility problems and you really can't identify what they are until you test.

Some dogs are submissive to any sign of discomfort from a bitch; some bitches are not that easy to breed, even when ready.

AI might be the best choice - but you need to track progesterone to get the timing right.
