Forum rules and no-advertising policy

As a participant on this forum, it is your responsibility to know and follow our rules. Please read this message in its entirety.

Board Rules

1. You’re responsible for what you say.
As outlined in Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, The Chronicle of the Horse and its affiliates, as well Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd., the developers of vBulletin, are not legally responsible for statements made in the forums.

This is a public forum viewed by a wide spectrum of people, so please be mindful of what you say and who might be reading it—details of personal disputes are likely better handled privately. While posters are legally responsible for their statements, the moderators may in their discretion remove or edit posts that violate these rules. Users have the ability to modify or delete their own messages after posting, but administrators generally will not delete posts, threads or accounts upon request.

Outright inflammatory, vulgar, harassing, malicious or otherwise inappropriate statements and criminal charges unsubstantiated by a reputable news source or legal documentation will not be tolerated and will be dealt with at the discretion of the moderators.

2. Conversations in horse-related forums should be horse-related.
The forums are a wonderful source of information and support for members of the horse community. While it’s understandably tempting to share information or search for input on other topics upon which members might have a similar level of knowledge, members must maintain the focus on horses.

3. Keep conversations productive, on topic and civil.
Discussion and disagreement are inevitable and encouraged; personal insults, diatribes and sniping comments are unproductive and unacceptable. Whether a subject is light-hearted or serious, keep posts focused on the current topic and of general interest to other participants of that thread. Utilize the private message feature or personal email where appropriate to address side topics or personal issues not related to the topic at large.

4. No advertising in the discussion forums.
Posts in the discussion forums directly or indirectly advertising horses, jobs, items or services for sale or wanted will be removed at the discretion of the moderators. Use of the private messaging feature or email addresses obtained through users’ profiles for unsolicited advertising is not permitted.

Company representatives may participate in discussions and answer questions about their products or services, or suggest their products on recent threads if they fulfill the criteria of a query. False "testimonials" provided by company affiliates posing as general consumers are not appropriate, and self-promotion of sales, ad campaigns, etc. through the discussion forums is not allowed.

Paid advertising is available on our classifieds site and through the purchase of banner ads. The tightly monitored Giveaways forum permits free listings of genuinely free horses and items available or wanted (on a limited basis). Items offered for trade are not allowed.

Advertising Policy Specifics
When in doubt of whether something you want to post constitutes advertising, please contact a moderator privately in advance for further clarification. Refer to the following points for general guidelines:

Horses – Only general discussion about the buying, leasing, selling and pricing of horses is permitted. If the post contains, or links to, the type of specific information typically found in a sales or wanted ad, and it’s related to a horse for sale, regardless of who’s selling it, it doesn’t belong in the discussion forums.

Stallions – Board members may ask for suggestions on breeding stallion recommendations. Stallion owners may reply to such queries by suggesting their own stallions, only if their horse fits the specific criteria of the original poster. Excessive promotion of a stallion by its owner or related parties is not permitted and will be addressed at the discretion of the moderators.

Services – Members may use the forums to ask for general recommendations of trainers, barns, shippers, farriers, etc., and other members may answer those requests by suggesting themselves or their company, if their services fulfill the specific criteria of the original post. Members may not solicit other members for business if it is not in response to a direct, genuine query.

Products – While members may ask for general opinions and suggestions on equipment, trailers, trucks, etc., they may not list the specific attributes for which they are in the market, as such posts serve as wanted ads.

Event Announcements – Members may post one notification of an upcoming event that may be of interest to fellow members, if the original poster does not benefit financially from the event. Such threads may not be “bumped” excessively. Premium members may post their own notices in the Event Announcements forum.

Charities/Rescues – Announcements for charitable or fundraising events can only be made for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations. Special exceptions may be made, at the moderators’ discretion and direction, for board-related events or fundraising activities in extraordinary circumstances.

Occasional posts regarding horses available for adoption through IRS-registered horse rescue or placement programs are permitted in the appropriate forums, but these threads may be limited at the discretion of the moderators. Individuals may not advertise or make announcements for horses in need of rescue, placement or adoption unless the horse is available through a recognized rescue or placement agency or government-run entity or the thread fits the criteria for and is located in the Giveaways forum.

5. Do not post copyrighted photographs unless you have purchased that photo and have permission to do so.

6. Respect other members.
As members are often passionate about their beliefs and intentions can easily be misinterpreted in this type of environment, try to explore or resolve the inevitable disagreements that arise in the course of threads calmly and rationally.

If you see a post that you feel violates the rules of the board, please click the “alert” button (exclamation point inside of a triangle) in the bottom left corner of the post, which will alert ONLY the moderators to the post in question. They will then take whatever action, or no action, as deemed appropriate for the situation at their discretion. Do not air grievances regarding other posters or the moderators in the discussion forums.

Please be advised that adding another user to your “Ignore” list via your User Control Panel can be a useful tactic, which blocks posts and private messages by members whose commentary you’d rather avoid reading.

7. We have the right to reproduce statements made in the forums.
The Chronicle of the Horse may copy, quote, link to or otherwise reproduce posts, or portions of posts, in print or online for advertising or editorial purposes, if attributed to their original authors, and by posting in this forum, you hereby grant to The Chronicle of the Horse a perpetual, non-exclusive license under copyright and other rights, to do so.

8. We reserve the right to enforce and amend the rules.
The moderators may delete, edit, move or close any post or thread at any time, or refrain from doing any of the foregoing, in their discretion, and may suspend or revoke a user’s membership privileges at any time to maintain adherence to the rules and the general spirit of the forum. These rules may be amended at any time to address the current needs of the board.

  • Ruled off? Really?

Keeping even more on track, can anybody tell me why I saw Delahoussaye's rig parked outside barn 24 at approximately 10:00 this morning?

Ruled off is supposed to mean just that, not having HW Hepbron bring horses in for work and goes! I know track management tries not to stray onto the backside too often for fear of getting their shoes dirty but watching this man make a mockery of them is beyond disgusting.

If I see them in there again I'll deliver a photo of it with date and time to Dick Hertz

Dick Hertz, Profidia(?), Vandian....... but not me.
and I think SB should stay on the rescue committee, and face each day of saving horses.... give her something to think on...care about ... and take a good inventory of her past deeds of disposal!.
I dont care how much time has passed, she callously shipped horses from losing races to the kill buyers, directly.
Bruce Rotz on the way home from CT/
Brian Moore just around the corner.

I think she should sit and view some slaughter videos..I doubt a single tear would be shed.... and she should sit there until it does sink in how horrible that end of life issue actually is.
              Probably for all 110 horses.
              Where is the accountability?
Hey, reminds me...where is Contrary...what was the final outcome on that anyway?

                • Interesting

Found these stats over on Paulick and looks pretty accurate anyone else notice this or am I repeating? Looks like Delahoussaye horses have found a home......Michael Caraman recently saddled a winner at Delaware . Previously the horse was trained by DD, and in the past few days the relatively low key low stat trainer Caraman has a growing string at De Park. Seems like they are or were Gill owned trained byDD or Witt (?) DD horses. Is Caraman the new Jay Buderwicz? Was he not named as running the Gill n DD horses at PhillyPark???

Yes, Jay Budrewicz is the one. Jay moved on to Suffolk, apparently was suspended, and now Jay's horses are in the hands of a Richard Budrewicz at Suffolk.

                    • I board a horse at Sandomar Training Farm where good 'ole DD has his string. Even though he was arrested and ruled off at Penn, it is business as usual for him everyday (including the very early morning post arrest). H. W. Hepbron"s (DD's paper trainer at Philly) truck and trailer sit in front of the barn at Sandomar everyday........but sit only briefly. Monday the very same rig that I mention in the previous sentence, and that I have seen DD driving himself many a time, appeared in front of Barn 24 on the Penn National backside. Does this not seem strange to anyone but me???? Tuesday the rig is headed out the driveway and down the road with DD following closely behind. Either this past Saturday or Sunday late afternoon or early evening I noticed the rig arriving back at Sandomar dispensing the same grooms that work for DD, and getting into DD's car which pulled in with the rig. Again is it me or does this seem just a tad bit suspicious? Saturday in the AM DD was a guest in the house of Sandor Horvath at Sandomar for a couple of hours. It does make one wonder what the topic of conversation was.

Mr. Horvath extols the virtues of DD and the excellent care he gives his horses in the Paulick Report and yet he can frequently be quoted by meany of his borders as having nothing good to say about DD AT ALL. Good care??? As a boarder at this farm I can attest that these poor creatures look anything but good. I could say more on what I have observed in this department but that is better left to your imaginings and whatever you imagine I am sure is tame. Many of our surrounding states have regulations that training centers must follow and are subject to inspection at the whim of the racing commissions. Those centers that run operations that permit the type of goings on that Sandomar allow are SHUT DOWN. If all states were to follow suit and training centers were not to allow safe haven to scum that insists on abusing animals and the rules of racing it would certainly be much easier to rid the sport of this sort of vermin. Pennsylvania is behind the times where this is concerned.

Additionally, has anyone found the buttons that Hollywood Casino/Penn National Race Course employees are sporting these days humorous???? They say "We Care". REALLY. ???? News to me. Saturday, I did a work and go at Penn. Because of prep for the Governors Cup no one was allowed in the receiving barn. Period. This I can understand as it is a daunting task for the best of men to make the sheet hole of a barn even slightly presentable, given years, not just hours. I, might I add, am the ultimate rule follower where the track and racing are concerned. So there all of us are in the parking lot outside the receiving barn, like a bunch of cowboy hacks. The horse I worked on Saturday is fractious to say the least and not the type you can tack up in the parking lot so I shipped in tacked up, trying to follow the rules. This totally freaked the horse out and how he did not hurt himself in the trailer I really do not know. He managed to make it up to train and back to the receiving barn parking lot unscathed in spite of a loose horse on the track. Untacking was easy enough until it came to taking off the bridle and slipping on his halter to take him home (I was not sending him home tacked up and risk his hurting himself). I and the two people with me honestly TRIED OUR BEST to accomplish this in the lot so as not to disturb the "beautification" in the receiving barn and follow the rules. It was not happening. I finally stepped inside and asked permission to bring him in the shedrow, not a stall, to accomplish this. I really did not want to risk injury to the horse, other people or other horses. One loose horse a morning is enough. John Murray greeted my request with expletives and a threat that if I or any of the people with me set foot in the receiving barn that he would have us all ruled off. So much for "We Care." More like "We Don't Care". Who cares if the horse gets loose and gets hurt or hurts others? This task might have taken a minute or two SAFELY in the shedrow. To date there have already been three people ruled off for not being out of the receiving barn by 9 AM on the dot to allow for "electrical work." Go figure. Penn National.....business as usual.

I know her personally and also know personally the 4H person she gives her horses to. Dont you think it would be a little stupid of the LEADING TRAINER AT SEVERAL RACETRACKS to give horses away to slaughter. The people that seem to want to write the things they do about Stephanie obviously have nothing better to do and to some degree are jealous of her success. I WILL GAURANTEE BECAUSE I KNOW FOR A FACT that NONE of her horses have been given away to SLAUGHTER WITH HER DIRECT KNOWLEDGE. Dont you think if there was CONCRETE PROOF NOT SPECULATION CONCRETE PROOF SHE WOULD BE IN JAIL BY NOW !!!! I admire organizations that save horses from slaughter and people that go to the kill pens at the auctions and save those horses thank god those people and organizations exist. I think that instead of so many people spending there time on this website bad mouthing Stephanie maybe you could spend the time at an auction trying to figure out how to get these horses homes. Do the people who sit on there computers badmouthing a trainer that has had an enourmous amount of success thing that what they say will shine more light of Stephanie than is already on her. Its the smaller outfits and the jipp half ass trainers know one pays attention to that people need to keep there eye on. Not Stephanie. Cannot stress enough how off base people can be.

If it is true, then give names... your info is just as speculative since there are no names.... WITH HER KNOWLEDGE... well, she could say that maybe 80% of the horses have gone to slaughter without her knowledge, maybe through the nice 4H lady???
IF she could prove all of this, don't you think she would have by now? If only to stop the hearsay on the different boards..

So if this 4H person is real, could she come on here and clear it up?

If you know the person personally, it should be pretty easy.

I don't know any of the details here, but do find it slightly suspicious - 4H is for children, and I find it very difficult to believe a 4H person would be taking such a number of Thoroughbreds off the track for that purpose. But if it's true, and you know this person, it should be reasonably easy for them to provide some evidence to put some of the grumbling to rest.

I know the woman personally because I have also given horses to the woman. I have met her,her husband, her children and been to her farm personally as well as stephanie. I didnt say she gives the horses directly off the track to children in 4H. She keeps them on her farm and her teenage daughters re-school them. The people they have ended up with I have kept in touch with and know exactly where all of them have ended up with. Why I myself do not feel the need to give names out is because people like yourselves are people who obviously are over the top. I would not subject a perfectly honest nice woman who I as well as Stephanie have been lucky enough to find. Are you serious??? So what she can have people on this web site call and harrass her and question her and her intentions. She would get a taste of the people who are on here and say "thanks but no thanks". I can only speak for myself but I know I can sleep at night knowing who and where our horses have ended up. I as well as Stephanie I am sure have better things to do than worry about the concerns of others. Please worry about saving others horses not trying to hunt down a very nice woman who has done nothing but taken horses off the track and given them to good homes. Get a life people!!!!

                                • Dear racing1120,
Oh, but we do know what we are talking about ...I am suggesting you go back and re-read the many, many, MANY, posts from folks who can attest to SB not being able to produce their horses -- On this forum, and other forums, and those who have been in contact because of these forums and stating their factual stories of their missing horses...this all spanning years. People are comparing notes and the truth is coming out.

The mysterious 4-H lady, or the petting zoo, or the wonderful farm home, have lacked credibility since there is no proof these folks or places exist.... (actually, wasnt DD just (2010)identified as one of the *next owners* of her horses?--YES!)
What does exist is the black and white facts of her horses being pulled from the killers pens (without going through auction but directly delivered).....
But then, after that discovery... her horses began disappearing --- to that unknown 4-H lady and other excuses.
Now, IF she had no knowledge that *losing horses* were going directly to the kill buyer after their races, then we must look at who is her shipper....(any guesses?) and must question her ability to run a stable based on her inability to provide safe care for those under her keeping.-- and did she not notice the horses missing the next morning?... or account for their arrival at the wonderful new home?
This is old...... everyone here is just patiently waiting for the answers. It wont go away.
So, you are saying Contrary and all the other are at this ladys farm?
Prove it. Dick Hertz, doublete and the others would like to meet their horses again ,.. perhaps just give private invitations to those folks. !

but apparently you don't. There is ample evidence to implicate SB with willful action that results in horses being shipped en. masse to slaughter. Sorry if that tweaks your impression of "the leading trainer at Penn", but she's just one of several that need a wake-up call, probably by the Feds, because they don't give a sh$% about what those in "the know", know!

If you doubt this, check up on the horses she has sent to petting zoos. LOL Only it's not funny and I'm not laughing.

I for one have better things to do with my time than bad mouth others who I THINK I KNOW. I am sure there are plenty of agencies that will listen to all of you but for now..... Everyone who spends this much time and effort to bad mouth someone else needs to get a hobby!!!! Oh and by the way I suppose the 4H woman, her husband, her daughters, her farm and the meeting with the other mothers and 4H kids we met are all a "facade" to get horses to Canada for slaughter. Please get a life people. I am in no way saying there are not people and auctions that send horses to slaughter but NOT THE CONTACTS THAT WE HAVE. NOT THE 4H WOMAN. GO HOUND SOMEONE ELSE!!!!
