Does anyone know about a champion American steeplechaser of the 1800s named Milesian? From what little I've been able to find on the net,
- He was owned by a Canadian/American lawyer named Dugald J. Bannatyne, who sometimes rode Milesian himself.
- He was once apparently cheated in a 'chase at Saratoga, being ruled having left the course during the race when, in fact, he was the only horse to have run the whole course between the flags.
- At McDougall's Farm near Montreal he won a 3-mile chase and a 4-mile chase on the same day, a feat which by itself should have guaranteed some lasting fame.
- Unlike most 'chasers, he was intact and retired to stud.
