registry records online go back to the late 1800's... however, I did not see any horse registered under "Amber's Lucky Glow". I'll try again...

Forum rules and no-advertising policy
As a participant on this forum, it is your responsibility to know and follow our rules. Please read this message in its entirety.
Board Rules
1. You’re responsible for what you say.
As outlined in Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, The Chronicle of the Horse and its affiliates, as well Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd., the developers of vBulletin, are not legally responsible for statements made in the forums.
This is a public forum viewed by a wide spectrum of people, so please be mindful of what you say and who might be reading it—details of personal disputes are likely better handled privately. While posters are legally responsible for their statements, the moderators may in their discretion remove or edit posts that violate these rules. Users have the ability to modify or delete their own messages after posting, but administrators generally will not delete posts, threads or accounts upon request.
Outright inflammatory, vulgar, harassing, malicious or otherwise inappropriate statements and criminal charges unsubstantiated by a reputable news source or legal documentation will not be tolerated and will be dealt with at the discretion of the moderators.
Credible threats of suicide will be reported to the police along with identifying user information at our disposal, in addition to referring the user to suicide helpline resources such as 1-800-SUICIDE or 1-800-273-TALK.
2. Conversations in horse-related forums should be horse-related.
The forums are a wonderful source of information and support for members of the horse community. While it’s understandably tempting to share information or search for input on other topics upon which members might have a similar level of knowledge, members must maintain the focus on horses.
3. Keep conversations productive, on topic and civil.
Discussion and disagreement are inevitable and encouraged; personal insults, diatribes and sniping comments are unproductive and unacceptable. Whether a subject is light-hearted or serious, keep posts focused on the current topic and of general interest to other participants of that thread. Utilize the private message feature or personal email where appropriate to address side topics or personal issues not related to the topic at large.
4. No advertising in the discussion forums.
Posts in the discussion forums directly or indirectly advertising horses, jobs, items or services for sale or wanted will be removed at the discretion of the moderators. Use of the private messaging feature or email addresses obtained through users’ profiles for unsolicited advertising is not permitted.
Company representatives may participate in discussions and answer questions about their products or services, or suggest their products on recent threads if they fulfill the criteria of a query. False "testimonials" provided by company affiliates posing as general consumers are not appropriate, and self-promotion of sales, ad campaigns, etc. through the discussion forums is not allowed.
Paid advertising is available on our classifieds site and through the purchase of banner ads. The tightly monitored Giveaways forum permits free listings of genuinely free horses and items available or wanted (on a limited basis). Items offered for trade are not allowed.
Advertising Policy Specifics
When in doubt of whether something you want to post constitutes advertising, please contact a moderator privately in advance for further clarification. Refer to the following points for general guidelines:
Horses – Only general discussion about the buying, leasing, selling and pricing of horses is permitted. If the post contains, or links to, the type of specific information typically found in a sales or wanted ad, and it’s related to a horse for sale, regardless of who’s selling it, it doesn’t belong in the discussion forums.
Stallions – Board members may ask for suggestions on breeding stallion recommendations. Stallion owners may reply to such queries by suggesting their own stallions, only if their horse fits the specific criteria of the original poster. Excessive promotion of a stallion by its owner or related parties is not permitted and will be addressed at the discretion of the moderators.
Services – Members may use the forums to ask for general recommendations of trainers, barns, shippers, farriers, etc., and other members may answer those requests by suggesting themselves or their company, if their services fulfill the specific criteria of the original post. Members may not solicit other members for business if it is not in response to a direct, genuine query.
Products – While members may ask for general opinions and suggestions on equipment, trailers, trucks, etc., they may not list the specific attributes for which they are in the market, as such posts serve as wanted ads.
Event Announcements – Members may post one notification of an upcoming event that may be of interest to fellow members, if the original poster does not benefit financially from the event. Such threads may not be “bumped” excessively. Premium members may post their own notices in the Event Announcements forum.
Charities/Rescues – Announcements for charitable or fundraising events can only be made for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations. Special exceptions may be made, at the moderators’ discretion and direction, for board-related events or fundraising activities in extraordinary circumstances.
Occasional posts regarding horses available for adoption through IRS-registered horse rescue or placement programs are permitted in the appropriate forums, but these threads may be limited at the discretion of the moderators. Individuals may not advertise or make announcements for horses in need of rescue, placement or adoption unless the horse is available through a recognized rescue or placement agency or government-run entity or the thread fits the criteria for and is located in the Giveaways forum.
5. Do not post copyrighted photographs unless you have purchased that photo and have permission to do so.
6. Respect other members.
As members are often passionate about their beliefs and intentions can easily be misinterpreted in this type of environment, try to explore or resolve the inevitable disagreements that arise in the course of threads calmly and rationally.
If you see a post that you feel violates the rules of the board, please click the “alert” button (exclamation point inside of a triangle) in the bottom left corner of the post, which will alert ONLY the moderators to the post in question. They will then take whatever action, or no action, as deemed appropriate for the situation at their discretion. Do not air grievances regarding other posters or the moderators in the discussion forums.
Please be advised that adding another user to your “Ignore” list via your User Control Panel can be a useful tactic, which blocks posts and private messages by members whose commentary you’d rather avoid reading.
7. We have the right to reproduce statements made in the forums.
The Chronicle of the Horse may copy, quote, link to or otherwise reproduce posts, or portions of posts, in print or online for advertising or editorial purposes, if attributed to their original authors, and by posting in this forum, you hereby grant to The Chronicle of the Horse a perpetual, non-exclusive license under copyright and other rights, to do so.
8. We reserve the right to enforce and amend the rules.
The moderators may delete, edit, move or close any post or thread at any time, or refrain from doing any of the foregoing, in their discretion, and may suspend or revoke a user’s membership privileges at any time to maintain adherence to the rules and the general spirit of the forum. These rules may be amended at any time to address the current needs of the board.

Sounds like your boy has all the saddlebred traits, and of course beautiful to boot!
I've got 7 purebred Saddlebreds and 4 Georgian Grande foals (SaddlebredXFriesian). I find that all my purebreds "talk through their nose". I laugh at people who think my horses are "spooking", and just explain to them that they are just talking.
I agree with the posters who mentioned they talk first and then approach. I was on a trail ride once with my 17hh gelding, and we came across 5 black bear in an open field. He stopped, blew, then wanted to meet each and everyone of them individually. I had to actually pull on him to stop him from getting closer. Bears are very common around here, so we do see atleast 1 everytime we ride. Other horses that I ride with have a tendency to turn tail and run, but not my saddlebreds.
Good for you for wanting to do dressage with your boy. I love to hear of Saddlebreds getting out and about in the dressage, jumping and eventing sports. They are SUCH a versatile breed. I've done 4' jumpers with my boy, dressage, eventing and advanced natural horsemanship. They are such willing, personable, trusting Partners. (and they are very addicting too
Good luck and have Fun with your special friend!

Grand Ilse Farm, whoa.... I am in serious love with J-Bell and Bella. Wow!!!!!
One of my guys is an Arab/ASB. He was given to me when he was 3 because the breeders couldn't sell him. I absolutely love his dam (ASB). She is everything a horse should be. Most people like him because he's so friendly and curious. He has a "twist' to his character that I don't like, but most days he's a good horse.
sddlbrdgrl, your boy is a cutie!

That's her! I got the name assbackwards, sorry everyone else who took a peek for me for messing the name up. Her barn name was Amber so my memory stuck Amber on the front of her name. She came to that barn around 84-85 and was a young lady then. I don;t remember running into her owner often, I don't think she was ridden often since I was there sunrise to sunset pretty much daily except for school but her owner could have come in winter/fall during the day. She was a tall bright chestnut, not facial markings and 4 high whites. Very pretty girl, regal looking. And the barn and I are in CT. Stall weaver if I remember right. How about LUCKY'S AMBER GLOW
Chestnut Mare foaled 4/6/79 four white stockings
By Lucky Decision out of a mare by Midnight Invasion. Now that is OLD blood.
No recorded offspring. Bred and last recorded owned in Connecticut. Is that her?
I don;t know saddlebred lines at all...but if she was indicative of her lineage than there's some decent jumping talent in there. At least for single hops over pretty high gates, LOL!
The name Midnight Invasion sounds familiar to me for some reason...but it's possible it could have been on her boarding contract or stall plate and I'd seen it there.
Thanks so much for finding that info for me...like a little blast from the past. She was such a lovebug. You jump in the saddle,
Hold onto the bridle!
Jump in the line!

MistyBlue,
Her sire, Lucky Decision was by Command Decision, a full brother to the great Wing Commander.
Midnight Invasion was a grandson of Stonewall King. Her Dam line goes through many oldies and goodies too numerous to mention.
Your old friend Amber was a late foal of some great lines from the 30's,40's and 50's. All of them were good, solid using horses. I'm sure jumping is only one small facet of the things she would have been capable of.

Ooh, count me in too! Here's my Sully-man:
http://pets.webshots.com/photo/12080...60954161LJzCka
Now retired and quite fat.
He is so smart, unflappable, and clever, never put a foot wrong for me. Sooooo fun to jump! He was a cross country machine. After he was semi-retired, I would take him trail riding alone through a local state park, and once came upon a herd of elk that popped up from the bushes. He snorted at them, not in the least afraid, only interested. Then the elk watched us march on past. There was also the time that a herd of sheep got loose from next door and came bounding through the dressage arena where we were riding. The warmblood we were riding with absolutely lost his mind and his rider bailed. But my Sully just looked hard, blew at them, and went on his merry way.
where are we going, and why am I in this hand basket?

Smart Alex...I just looked up those names on all breed query and some had photos and write ups. Amber looked a lot like Command Decision. Boy was Wing Commander a popular guy or what? The write up on him was full of his accomplishments...calling him the best 5 gaited horse ever. You jump in the saddle,
Hold onto the bridle!
Jump in the line!

I have a saddlebred/Pasofino mix and I LOVE HIM!
When he could see he was a snorty looky guy too. Big rocks and overturned tree root balls were something he did NOT like, but we worked around it. Oh and drainage pipes under driveways! The silver ones where they stuck out. He never did anything stupid but would lock down for a moment snorting and staring. He was a handful to ride, give you arm pumps, loved to go go go! (still does!)
He's blind as a bat now, can't even see light and dark we think, so riding him now past rocks is no issue.
Have to tell a funny story about him. I can only ride him in places where the trails are flat and level, and Moses Cone has carriage trails so when we go there I take him. The last time we went I was riding with a friend of mine we stopped at the bathrooms. We didn't have lead ropes so I held the horses while she went up. When she came back and it was my turn she was holding them. I could see Dusty starting to get nervous as I was leaving, head up, ears straining, but didn't think anything about it, as soon as I started around the corner though he started screaming! My friend called out for me to come back! I came running back down talking to him while I was running "Dusty, here I am, it's ok! Hey boy! Here I come!" and as soon as I came over to him and took his reins he lowered his head and bumped me, found my face and then put his head in my chest and got quiet. My friend was explaining to the people around him he was blind and they started "awww"ing and such. He is spoiled, but I love him. I don't think he was really calling for me I think he might have heard some other horses walk by on the gravel and wanting to go to, but I just like to think he missed me. : )
He is very opinonated and will bang on the gate until I come over and visit. It's so funny, he "BANGS, BANGS, BANGS, BANGS" on the gate then "looks" around with his head all up in the air with a stink face on! I can quietly walk right up in front of him and watch him. I can only stand there for a few moments before I start giggling and he then settles down and reaches for me with his nose.
Here is a picture of him before he went blind:
http://s36.photobucket.com/albums/e2...t=CIMG0593.jpg
and him now, "Mommy I KNOW you are there!"
http://s36.photobucket.com/albums/e2...nSaddle045.jpgI want a signature but I have nothing original to say except: "STHU and RIDE!!!
Wonderful COTHER's I've met: belleellis, stefffic, snkstacres and janedoe726.

I have a blind broodmare/ex-showhorse who is totally without vision. When you mentioned your horse's head up in the air, it made me laugh because I've seen my girl do this many times. She puts her head higher up than any horse I have that can see normally. She wears a fly mask and when she "star gazes", I swear she looks like she's doing a Stevie Wonder imitation! She's well adapted to being blind and actually leads me when she knows where she's going - she's very bossy. But we've had people who don't know that she's blind ask us why she stands in the middle of her paddock with her head raised so high - it's pretty funny looking.Originally posted by Chardavej View PostI have a saddlebred/Pasofino mix and I LOVE HIM!

We jumped a log
I just got back from my lunch hour. I can manage a quick ride during lunch, and do it about 2-3 days a week. We have been working on riding around the fields, tackling ditches and other "big boy" situations while dreaming of someday jumping a bit and foxhunting. Last week my stepfather cut a tree down along the driveway. Not a big one, about 18" through. The trunk is cut up and laying in the lawn. We have been walking around it, through it and over it as a natural obstacle. Today, Grey walked right up to it and jumped it like it was two feet high
. I got totally left behind
but the best part was he did not throw in a "Whoop-dee-do" when he landed. He just trotted off like it was no big deal. I was having seperation anxieties in mid-air. Good boy for not thinking of dumping my unprepared butt.
I can't wait to get to my home computer so I can enjoy everone's photos.
