  • Billy and Blaze movie release date????

Does anyone know? The projected date was coming summer of 2019, then in August. Now nothing. I know production and financing stalled a while but I thought it was back on track. Zero mention of the movie on our local theater's calendar. Or of the release on the movie FB page.
I have a Grandma day I'd like to plan and a few lady friends who want to share in the fun.

I found a notice on their FB site from June indicating they'd finished a rough cut. Not sure they have a distributor, which would make it unlikely that it'd show up anytime real soon at your local cineplex.

Maybe you could reach out to them via FB?

. Currently in post-production, the artistic and heartwarming film is expected to be released this fall.

my guess is the release will be at one of the arts fairs/ film festivals .... not saying it is happening with Billy and Blaze but often movies such as Billy and Blaze, the way it was produced lends itself to boarder exposure in such fairs and festivals

After final cut and post-production completes, it will play at a round of smaller film festivals - probably Middleburg's will be the first public showing of the final cut, given the time-frame between completion and intended release and the obvious Equestrian angle at the festival's location - until someone scoops it up for distribution, if it's even put up for distribution. They may simply choose to do it themselves, which is entirely possible these days. Given how these things usually go, I'd say DVD release next year on WalMart racks - WalMart actually buys these sorts of family/childrens films and sells them exclusively in their retail stores - or direct sale via Amazon and maybe VOD via the usual players. Given the lack of broadband in most of Horse Country USA and it's obvious status as a legendary children's story, a DVD release is very much likely, though I wouldn't bet on it being available on Blu-Ray or Ultra High-Definition Blu-Ray, which is a shame because the film was shot using cinema-grade cameras that give very good image quality that lends itself to being shown in the highest quality possible and they obviously put effort and money into achieving shots that clearly show how beautiful the rolling countryside of Old Virginia is.

It looks like things have stalled on the release. They had a rough cut by the beginning of Summer and were supposed to have the final cut and post-production completed in the Fall/Autumn. The media accounts tied to the film have been inactive for months, so I'm not sure if there will be any release in the near future.

I sent them the question earlier this month getting this reply on the 9th of November

Good morning and thank you for following along with us on our Billy and Blaze journey.

Although we do not have an exact release date yet, the film is coming along beautifully and we will share any timeline updates with all of you as we get them. We are excited and appreciate your continued support as we strive to bring this film to the theater.

Stay tuned and again, many thanks.
my son is a cinematographer, some of his projects such as this film get pushed around

                      ---

the production company owns the rights to the Billy & Blaze series... my thought is one of the majors or simi majors has their eye on this thinking they can pick up the movie and its rights for a song

That looks like some serious cheese and crackers. Never read the book, though. I'm sure it's more meaningful if you read it.

Based on the trailer, I kind of agree. But as a horse crazy kid I loved those books, and everything else C.W. Anderson wrote. Looking back now, they certainly were set in a kinder, gentler time.

There is nothing wrong with cheese and crackers. Little kids need more of that. I loved Misty and other kids horse movies that were based on treasured books.

I can't sit through some of the newest kid movies because of the pace. Video game fast. Kids need to slow down; not speed up. Mr. Rogers had the perfect pace. His old reruns calm little ones.

Me too! I can't take my grandkids to PG movies/cartoons because of the fast action. It's bombardment. An overload of the senses. Please I'd like to enjoy scenery and the nuisances of facial expression and character development
                              …. sigh.
