  • New bridle with fancy stitching fault

I ordered a hunter bridle online and overall am extremely pleased with it. My budget isn’t huge (and I actually don’t even need a bridle - I’m showing a lesson horse) so this is not high-end tack, but it’s nice, soft leather, it’s pretty and it will be perfect for my needs. It even matches my oakbark-colored saddle, which took some doing!

However, there is a flaw in the browband’s fancy stitch. When viewed from a distance it looks like two stitches are missing. They actually are not, but the thread is darker grey-colored instead of white, so they blend in too much with the leather. Maybe I’m ridiculously picky and nobody would even notice, but this will definitely bother ME.

So, is this fixable in any way? Can I ask the retailer to send me just a new browband? Or should I just exchange the whole bridle for another (and pay return shipping, alas)?

I don’t know how common this issue might be so any advice is welcome.

Ask if you can exchange it. That sounds like a manufacturing flaw. I am sure most retailers would be happy to exchange it.

Once the bridle is broken in and conditioned/darkened I doubt this will be as visible. But if it bothers you, ask to exchange it.
