Just got an email from HITS about David Connors winning the 3'3 hunter derby. Does anyone know if Nadia is an AQHA?

Forum rules and no-advertising policy
As a participant on this forum, it is your responsibility to know and follow our rules. Please read this message in its entirety.
Board Rules
1. You’re responsible for what you say.
As outlined in Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, The Chronicle of the Horse and its affiliates, as well Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd., the developers of vBulletin, are not legally responsible for statements made in the forums.
This is a public forum viewed by a wide spectrum of people, so please be mindful of what you say and who might be reading it—details of personal disputes are likely better handled privately. While posters are legally responsible for their statements, the moderators may in their discretion remove or edit posts that violate these rules. Users have the ability to modify or delete their own messages after posting, but administrators generally will not delete posts, threads or accounts upon request.
Outright inflammatory, vulgar, harassing, malicious or otherwise inappropriate statements and criminal charges unsubstantiated by a reputable news source or legal documentation will not be tolerated and will be dealt with at the discretion of the moderators.
Credible threats of suicide will be reported to the police along with identifying user information at our disposal, in addition to referring the user to suicide helpline resources such as 1-800-SUICIDE or 1-800-273-TALK.
2. Conversations in horse-related forums should be horse-related.
The forums are a wonderful source of information and support for members of the horse community. While it’s understandably tempting to share information or search for input on other topics upon which members might have a similar level of knowledge, members must maintain the focus on horses.
3. Keep conversations productive, on topic and civil.
Discussion and disagreement are inevitable and encouraged; personal insults, diatribes and sniping comments are unproductive and unacceptable. Whether a subject is light-hearted or serious, keep posts focused on the current topic and of general interest to other participants of that thread. Utilize the private message feature or personal email where appropriate to address side topics or personal issues not related to the topic at large.
4. No advertising in the discussion forums.
Posts in the discussion forums directly or indirectly advertising horses, jobs, items or services for sale or wanted will be removed at the discretion of the moderators. Use of the private messaging feature or email addresses obtained through users’ profiles for unsolicited advertising is not permitted.
Company representatives may participate in discussions and answer questions about their products or services, or suggest their products on recent threads if they fulfill the criteria of a query. False "testimonials" provided by company affiliates posing as general consumers are not appropriate, and self-promotion of sales, ad campaigns, etc. through the discussion forums is not allowed.
Paid advertising is available on our classifieds site and through the purchase of banner ads. The tightly monitored Giveaways forum permits free listings of genuinely free horses and items available or wanted (on a limited basis). Items offered for trade are not allowed.
Advertising Policy Specifics
When in doubt of whether something you want to post constitutes advertising, please contact a moderator privately in advance for further clarification. Refer to the following points for general guidelines:
Horses – Only general discussion about the buying, leasing, selling and pricing of horses is permitted. If the post contains, or links to, the type of specific information typically found in a sales or wanted ad, and it’s related to a horse for sale, regardless of who’s selling it, it doesn’t belong in the discussion forums.
Stallions – Board members may ask for suggestions on breeding stallion recommendations. Stallion owners may reply to such queries by suggesting their own stallions, only if their horse fits the specific criteria of the original poster. Excessive promotion of a stallion by its owner or related parties is not permitted and will be addressed at the discretion of the moderators.
Services – Members may use the forums to ask for general recommendations of trainers, barns, shippers, farriers, etc., and other members may answer those requests by suggesting themselves or their company, if their services fulfill the specific criteria of the original post. Members may not solicit other members for business if it is not in response to a direct, genuine query.
Products – While members may ask for general opinions and suggestions on equipment, trailers, trucks, etc., they may not list the specific attributes for which they are in the market, as such posts serve as wanted ads.
Event Announcements – Members may post one notification of an upcoming event that may be of interest to fellow members, if the original poster does not benefit financially from the event. Such threads may not be “bumped” excessively. Premium members may post their own notices in the Event Announcements forum.
Charities/Rescues – Announcements for charitable or fundraising events can only be made for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations. Special exceptions may be made, at the moderators’ discretion and direction, for board-related events or fundraising activities in extraordinary circumstances.
Occasional posts regarding horses available for adoption through IRS-registered horse rescue or placement programs are permitted in the appropriate forums, but these threads may be limited at the discretion of the moderators. Individuals may not advertise or make announcements for horses in need of rescue, placement or adoption unless the horse is available through a recognized rescue or placement agency or government-run entity or the thread fits the criteria for and is located in the Giveaways forum.
5. Do not post copyrighted photographs unless you have purchased that photo and have permission to do so.
6. Respect other members.
As members are often passionate about their beliefs and intentions can easily be misinterpreted in this type of environment, try to explore or resolve the inevitable disagreements that arise in the course of threads calmly and rationally.
If you see a post that you feel violates the rules of the board, please click the “alert” button (exclamation point inside of a triangle) in the bottom left corner of the post, which will alert ONLY the moderators to the post in question. They will then take whatever action, or no action, as deemed appropriate for the situation at their discretion. Do not air grievances regarding other posters or the moderators in the discussion forums.
Please be advised that adding another user to your “Ignore” list via your User Control Panel can be a useful tactic, which blocks posts and private messages by members whose commentary you’d rather avoid reading.
7. We have the right to reproduce statements made in the forums.
The Chronicle of the Horse may copy, quote, link to or otherwise reproduce posts, or portions of posts, in print or online for advertising or editorial purposes, if attributed to their original authors, and by posting in this forum, you hereby grant to The Chronicle of the Horse a perpetual, non-exclusive license under copyright and other rights, to do so.
8. We reserve the right to enforce and amend the rules.
The moderators may delete, edit, move or close any post or thread at any time, or refrain from doing any of the foregoing, in their discretion, and may suspend or revoke a user’s membership privileges at any time to maintain adherence to the rules and the general spirit of the forum. These rules may be amended at any time to address the current needs of the board.

Who is the owner?
There are about 12 or 15 listed with the name Nadia. Earlier/presumably older ones are TB. A few in the middle are unknown or n/a and the bottom of the list (younger or more recent? maybe) are all various WBs.
Find the owner and we can pick this one out. Are the results online anywhere? That would give the owner so we can match with the right horse. When opportunity knocks it's wearing overalls and looks like work.

OKAY, I got it.
Whoever sent you the e mail was misinformed. Nadia did NOT win the Devoucoux 3'3" 10k Hunter Derby at Ocala. She was third though.
She is listed under her current owner (whose name I won't put on here) as an Oldenburg. When opportunity knocks it's wearing overalls and looks like work.

Here is the press release from HITS that I recieved via email::
OCALA, FL (March 2, 2010)--The sun was shining bright on Sunday at HITS Post Time Farm in Ocala, Florida, as David Connors and Nadia, owned by Carol Stillwell, jumped the best score in two rounds to win the $10,000 Devoucoux Hunter Derby.
"She was excellent today!" exclaimed an ecstatic Connors of Ocala, Florida. "She was really loose, forward and dialed in." Connors and Nadia have improved upon their performance each week in the Devoucoux Derby, as the pair finished fourth in the class two weeks ago, and third last week.
Starting off the first round was an eager Patty Stovel on Kenya, owned by Shoal Creek Stables, Ltd., of Joplin, Missouri, setting the pace of the class with an impressive first-round score of 84. Stovel, from Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, was one of 45 riders to take to the field in Sunday's featured hunter class.
Two trips later, David Connors took the irons to gain the lead and remain on top of the class with a first-round score of 89.
Looking to continue their undefeated streak, Kristen Bumpus of Concord, Massachusetts, and Hannah Curran's Inspired, the winners of the $10,000 Devoucoux Hunter Derby for the past two weeks, were in hot pursuit of Connors and Nadia with a first round score of 87, looking to go head-to-head for the win in round two.
The top 12 riders returned for the next phase. Catherine Maher and Montego Bay got things started in the second round, earning 85 points to add to their score of 84.5 from the first phase for a total of 169.5. Maher held the lead until Connors, the very last rider of the class, outscored her by 3.5 points, leaving her to finish in second place.
Lauren Kissel and Janet Salem's Water Music were next to take to the course and the pair earned 82 points, giving them a total of 162.75 points for third place. Greg Prince and Caroline Kelley's Aramis were next and earned 80 points in the handy phase for a total of 162.5 and the fourth-place finish.
Bumpus was one of the last riders to compete and gave every effort to make it three in a row; however, a second-round score of 40 points settled her into 11th place, retiring her title as the undefeated champion in the class.
"He [Inspired] seemed a little confused today when I asked him to jump outside of the ring – he was like what!?" explained Bumpus, who was still very proud of their performance.
Showing last in the second round was the winner, David Connors, who went into panic mode when Nadia threw an unlucky shoe.
"I was panicking when she threw a shoe and I knew I needed to get it fixed quickly," explained Connors, who was watching carefully alongside Nadia from outside of the ring as she got a new shoe tacked on.
“I practiced it quickly, went out there, and she was fine,” said Connors.
The $10,000 Devoucoux Hunter Derby is the only class of the week that Nadia competes in. “I look forward to keep competing in this class – it’s a really great event,” said Connors.
Rounding out the top five was youngster Taylor Ann Adams and Pin-up, owned by Hilary Sheer Gerhardt. The duo earned an even 161 points for their efforts.
This year, the all-new Devoucoux Hunter Derby will be a featured event at both the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit and the HITS Desert Circuit in Thermal, California, and represents the 13th division to count for points in the Marshall & Sterling League. In addition to the $10,000 classes at HITS winter shows in Ocala and Thermal, qualifying classes for the Devoucoux Hunter Derby will also be offered at the HITS Culpeper and HITS Saugerties shows this spring and summer. HITS has also invited a select number of additional horse shows in the Northeast to add the Devoucoux Hunter Derby to their show schedules in order to facilitate the growth of the class and to provide further qualifying opportunities for the Marshall & Sterling League National Finals. The Devoucoux Hunter Derby Finals will be offered at the 2010 Marshall & Sterling League National Finals on September 16-19 in Saugerties, New York. For a complete list of horse shows offering the Devoucoux Hunter Derby for Marshall & Sterling points, please click here.
Show jumping at HITS Post Time Farm continues this week with the Ocala Tournament from March 2 – 7, featuring a full lineup of exciting classes and two more qualifying Grand Prix classes for the Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix, including Thursday's $25,000 HITS Grand Prix, presented by Pfizer Animal Health, and Sunday's $50,000 Ring Power Grand Prix, presented by Pfizer Animal Health. It also will be an exciting week for hunters as well with the $5,000 Children’s Hunter Classic on Saturday evening, followed by the next installment of the $10,000 Devoucoux Hunter Derby on Sunday afternoon.
In order to qualify for the Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix, a rider must compete in eight or more HITS Grand Prix classes. The top 40 riders, based on money won by horse/rider combination, will be eligible to ride for the Pfizer Million. For more detailed information on the Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix, please visit our website at HitsShows.com.

Apparently it's fairly popular 50 entries one week and 45 the next. Popularity might not be the goal or what's best for the sport. But I'm sure HITS is excited about 50 people paying $350 to enter. $17,500 in entries that payed out $10,000 in prizes helps the show, especially if Devoucoux paid a sponsorship fee.Originally posted by Scruffy View Post3'3" hunter derby ??????? sigh..it is hopeless

I'll DO IT! Thanks for the nomination! I'll be the best GP cross-rail rider EVER!Originally posted by Scruffy View PostYup....the dumbing down of the horse shows continues. Pretty soon we will have cross rail grand prix's. Is it any wonder at all why we are a joke internationally???
(in all seriousness, 3'3" for a $10k purse does sound a bit silly)

is there REALLY anything wrong with having a complicated 3'-3'3'' hunter course? or do you only have a problem with it being called a 'derby' ?? this question is not just for you, but really everyone with this ideology -- i'm just curious as to why some people seem to think that this is the death of talent or something stupid.Originally posted by Scruffy View PostYup....the dumbing down of the horse shows continues. there are plenty of horses that max out around 3'-3'3'' that are extremely talented--this is a good class to showcase their talents in. there are also plenty of talented younger hunters who are getting ready to do bigger classes (jrs, workings, etc) and going in the ring and going around a complicated course with big scary decorated jumps is going to give them a good experience.
sorry, i just don't really understand why people think horse shows were ever idealistic. there have always been complaints about one thing or another, it's never going to change. it's like that about EVERYTHING in life, really. let the riders entered have their fun, and if you don't like the class? well then honestly why do you even bother to pay attention to it? it won't negatively affect you in any way. sometimes i think people just want something to complain about.(|--Sarah--|)

You have a plethora of hopeless hunter classes for the horses who are maxed out at 3'3". That is what the adults, childrens,lows,pre-green and the "speshul" classes are for (I'm sure I left some out). Leave the derbies for the 3'6" and up hunters. Now the derbies which started out to be a crowd draw are now nothing but a snooze fest. I feel for the judges.

I have no problem with it. I totally would totally do it if I still had a hunter. I think it's a great venue for younger kids who want to do a derby, younger horses and horses that max out. It could hopefully turn into a platform for those same riders/horses to progress towards the "real" derbies. Who cares if it's a big money class? Would I rather they put that money in my divisions? Sure, but it could do a good thing drawing out hunters into a more technical course.Originally posted by superpony123 View Postis there REALLY anything wrong with having a complicated 3'-3'3'' hunter course? or do you only have a problem with it being called a 'derby' ?? this question is not just for you, but really everyone with this ideology -- i'm just curious as to why some people seem to think that this is the death of talent or something stupid.
I think it's the same as having smaller jumper divisions. My gelding and I competed at 1.10 last summer. Hopefully that will be the starting point for us to progress into something more like 1.40 one day. Everybody has to start somewhere, right?

I have no problem with it. The big money will still be reserved for the 3'6" derbies and the winners will do the 4' options.
The 3'3" derbies are a way of generating more income and prepping horses for the 3'6" derbies.
To me, the 3'3" derbies are like offering jr/am and high/low jumpers, they're a stepping stone to develop the skills to get to the big stuff."ronnie was the gifted one, victor was the brilliant intellect, and i [GM], well, i am the plodder."

But wait, are we REALLY a joke internationally? Or do you think there are people all over the world snickering about a couple of 3'3" classes when there is curling to laugh at as an Olympic sport

As a tangent, this falls right in line with the problem I have with jumpers. For example, in a prize list I was looking at recently, there was a $20,000 High Child/Adult Jumper Classic and a $10,000 Low Child/Adult Jumper Classic as well as a $2500 High Child Stake, $2500 High Adult Stake, $1000 Low Adult Stake, and $1000 Low Child Stake. Meanwhile, they offer a $30,000 Grand Prix, $10,000 High Jr./AO Classic, and $5,000 Low Jr./AO Classic. What about this makes a rider want to move up to the Jr./AO jumpers when the children's have more than twice the prize money???
I don't know about everyone else, but I just don't understand this! To me, it seems like there should be $5,000 High Child and Adult Stakes, $2,500 Low Child and Adult Stakes, a $10,000 Low Jr./AO Classic, $15,000 High Jr./AO Classic and a $50,000 Grand Prix! But ... that's just me.
And if you happen to do the MOJAMS and you jump 1.20 then you have no classic and no prize money so you either move down to the high childrens or do the low juniors and with that prize money you'd probably choose to move down. If they can do a modified hunter height for a Derby you'd think that they could do something for the modified junior/am jumpers.
