Forum rules and no-advertising policy

As a participant on this forum, it is your responsibility to know and follow our rules. Please read this message in its entirety.

Board Rules

2. Conversations in horse-related forums should be horse-related.3. Keep conversations productive, on topic and civil.
Discussion and disagreement are inevitable and encouraged; personal insults, diatribes and sniping comments are unproductive and unacceptable. Whether a subject is light-hearted or serious, keep posts focused on the current topic and of general interest to other participants of that thread. Utilize the private message feature or personal email where appropriate to address side topics or personal issues not related to the topic at large.

4. No advertising in the discussion forums.classifieds site and through the purchase of banner ads. The tightly monitored Giveaways forum permits free listings of genuinely free horses and items available or wanted (on a limited basis). Items offered for trade are not allowed.

Advertising Policy Specifics
When in doubt of whether something you want to post constitutes advertising, please contact a moderator privately in advance for further clarification. Refer to the following points for general guidelines:

Board members may ask for suggestions on breeding stallion recommendations. Stallion owners may reply to such queries by suggesting their own stallions, only if their horse fits the specific criteria of the original poster. Excessive promotion of a stallion by its owner or related parties is not permitted and will be addressed at the discretion of the moderators.

Members may use the forums to ask for general recommendations of trainers, barns, shippers, farriers, etc., and other members may answer those requests by suggesting themselves or their company, if their services fulfill the specific criteria of the original post. Members may not solicit other members for business if it is not in response to a direct, genuine query.

While members may ask for general opinions and suggestions on equipment, trailers, trucks, etc., they may not list the specific attributes for which they are in the market, as such posts serve as wanted ads.

5. Do not post copyrighted photographs unless you have purchased that photo and have permission to do so.

Good luck to him “improving” Ocala... there’s no way it’ll compete with WEC even with HITS having the dates. All day any day I’d rather go to an unrated show at a better facility.... and there’s 0 chance of hits ever being half of what WEC will be. I have a feeling he’s doing this to try to end up with more money from Roberts to buy his dates.

They need to do something to create incentives for rider, but have failed to do so. They charge top dollar and fail to give a top dollar experience. Locals more or less stick to Lamplight or Ledges or chose to Travel to GLEF, Kentucky, or Ohio - Same price and by far better experience.
Agreed. I showed there in May and June and I think there were 3 or 4 in the COMBINED age groups for Amateur Adult Hunters. Lamplight had 13 in the >50's.

The rings and jumps are great, but after your 2 minutes in the ring, you're still in them middle of nowhere with no amenities.

Can they sell Culpeper to someone else too now?
I always thought people were a little over dramatic on the footing there. But then I went and they managed to both turn the warm up into a swamp and the jumper ring into a desert.

For real! I stopped going there back in 2010, because even then, it was becoming the Walmart of rated shows.

I went to Culpeper once, despite its reputation, just to try a new venue. Luckily, we had great weather so the rings were perfect. It was a beautiful venue.

However, the cost for me to trailer in was almost twice what it costs me for most other 'A' rated shows. My division had THREE in it including myself.

            Thank you, next.

Yeah, ended up paying about 250$ To trailer in to do one class.

I find it fascinating that everyone is more interested in what Tom is going to do next, rather than what this new group is doing out in CA.

Does anyone in that group have experience running a horse show? It's interesting USEF allows the selling of dates to an unproven management group (I'm assuming unproven, as I've never heard of this group before). CA is a massive industry, and I hope they end up with a better event than they had and the place doesn't go bankrupt in a few years.

Here's some information about the team they put together.
