Forum rules and no-advertising policy

As a participant on this forum, it is your responsibility to know and follow our rules. Please read this message in its entirety.

Board Rules

2. Conversations in horse-related forums should be horse-related.3. Keep conversations productive, on topic and civil.
Discussion and disagreement are inevitable and encouraged; personal insults, diatribes and sniping comments are unproductive and unacceptable. Whether a subject is light-hearted or serious, keep posts focused on the current topic and of general interest to other participants of that thread. Utilize the private message feature or personal email where appropriate to address side topics or personal issues not related to the topic at large.

4. No advertising in the discussion forums.classifieds site and through the purchase of banner ads. The tightly monitored Giveaways forum permits free listings of genuinely free horses and items available or wanted (on a limited basis). Items offered for trade are not allowed.

Advertising Policy Specifics
When in doubt of whether something you want to post constitutes advertising, please contact a moderator privately in advance for further clarification. Refer to the following points for general guidelines:

Board members may ask for suggestions on breeding stallion recommendations. Stallion owners may reply to such queries by suggesting their own stallions, only if their horse fits the specific criteria of the original poster. Excessive promotion of a stallion by its owner or related parties is not permitted and will be addressed at the discretion of the moderators.

Members may use the forums to ask for general recommendations of trainers, barns, shippers, farriers, etc., and other members may answer those requests by suggesting themselves or their company, if their services fulfill the specific criteria of the original post. Members may not solicit other members for business if it is not in response to a direct, genuine query.

While members may ask for general opinions and suggestions on equipment, trailers, trucks, etc., they may not list the specific attributes for which they are in the market, as such posts serve as wanted ads.

  • No Central Park Show This Year

Maybe next year? I attended it once. It was fun, but obviously a huge logistical challenge.

too bad, I know they got 5* approval for this year as well, but the riders are gonna pick the GCT shows with the bigger prize money over this. I do hope they come back next year. Perhaps pushing out to October?

I think it would be hard to hold it in October if they want to attract the top hunter riders, who will be busy at Indoors. If, in fact, they want to continue having hunter classes there.

Took them long enough to announce it! Disappointing, but being cancelled the last two years doesn't make me hopeful that it will actually be back. I really hope I'm wrong though as I thought it was really well done!

The show schedule is so packed that it's not possible to just decide you want to have a big horse show and assume riders will show up. There's so many conflicts that they can't attract enough top-tier entries to make it worth it.

CPHS is always in September. This year, between Labor Day and Oct 1, you have the Hampton Classic, a 5* at HITS Saugerties, Gold Cup, LGCT Montreal, and LGCT Governor's Island. (There's also a Rome and a St Tropez LGCT. Plus, the horses from the Pan Ams will have returned home in mid-August and will be resting or just getting back to work.)

I went to the arena eventing in 2017 and remember some insane situation where a bunch of the riders had competed that day at a big event (Plantation Field?) taken a train to NYC in the afternoon, and shown under the lights that night.

What would make most sense is to take the Gold Cup dates and have Gold Cup in the city, but I think no one would actually want that except ESP...

No Central Park, but it looks like the NY Masters is going to be an annual event, and now there is GCT @ Governer's Island.
