Discussion and disagreement are inevitable and encouraged; personal insults, diatribes and sniping comments are unproductive and unacceptable. Whether a subject is light-hearted or serious, keep posts focused on the current topic and of general interest to other participants of that thread. Utilize the private message feature or personal email where appropriate to address side topics or personal issues not related to the topic at large.

Frankie Thieriot is in 3rd after dressage with Chatwin on a 28.8!! I listened to her on Major league Eventing and she is one of my new fav riders. An amatuer with one competition horse, laying it down. They are an exiciting combination.

I just looked at the 5* leaderboard, and wow, Japan. Three riders in the top 12. #Tokyo2020 indeed.

More Japanese riders than Germans in the 5*. If they continue to do as well in XC and SJ as they are doing in dressage, Japan will be a power in the Olympics with their five or six event riders. I've just looked Japan up in the FEI calendar, and the only eventing competition between now and the end of the year is the test event for the Olympics. Otherwise, the country has one eventing center that hosts four FEI competitions, all at the old 1* level (except maybe 1 CIC from last year, and none with more than ten competitors even when two levels were run. There are actually more Japanese competing at Luhmuhlen than competed at one of their 1*s last year.

One trains with Dirk Shrade I think in Germany, and another based in England. I'm sure the rest are too. If you look up their results on FEI, they have been doing really well.

Equiratings did a podcast preview for Luhmuhlen, they discuss #japanwatch a lot. Interesting stuff.

The 4* is the German Championship too I believe, so many chose to ride in that division.

I did a post on the breeding/pedigrees of the field, if anyone is a nerd like me and into that sort of thing.

                      https://the900facebookpony.com/2019/...ood-luhmuhlen/

I always think it's interesting when the high blood % horses are leading after dressage. The current leader is 81% blood, a traditionally bred Irish Sporthorse with a full thoroughbred sire. There's also a European horse in the field who's sire is now a relatively well-known hunter stallion in the US. And a couple of horses with siblings also competing at the upper levels.

Cross country is extremely delayed... starts at 14:45 now. Better for the US people, but now I can’t watch. Sad face!

The drone is great. A lot of run outs at corners and skinnies.

None of the last 7 riders have finished.
                                      make that 8 now

Warning, if you buy the H&C TV to watch don't buy the UK version, make sure the site is flipped to US.
I did this, and now am unable to purchase the US version, and can't watch!
