Before I tell you how fabulous and cute he is, let me tell you how my farrier describes him: "This horse ain't lookin' out for nobody but himself. He knows who Number One is."
Yeah. Not a kids horse! He's nervous around strangers (heck, he gets nervous around me and I'm pretty much the only one who has handled him for the last 7+ years), he gets really worried around strange men, he is unsure in new situatuations, etc. He can get easily worked up and needs someone who knows and understands horses. Not the forgiving type. He needs a confident rider with a soft seat and soft hands.
This horse was NOT abused - this is just his nature. He was passed around a bunch in the early years of his lifeand I am confident that is a result of his squirrely personality - and I think all the moving compounded his issues. I've been with him exclusively for the last 7+ years. He really has settled down a ton, but I need to lay it all out there - he is cute but NOT A KIDS HORSE (an accomplished teenager with a trainer, maybe).
That being said, he is a fabulous little pony. Sound, cute mover, easy keeper, lots of fun (in most scenarios), and gets lots of attention when you go places (everyone wants to know what he is - and the most common guess is Lipizzan). The last couple of years I was riding him (he hasn't been ridden since April of 2007, when I got pregnant) were a blast. We were doing local dressage shows (training level) and I would occasionally pop over some little jumps. SUPPOSEDLY - he fox hunted. Although I doubt the authenticity of this story, or the sanity of whoever fox-hunted with him, he does jump and is careful and adjustable over fences (that being said, I am terrible over fences and rarely jumped him because I didn't want to mess him up). His leads are not 100% solid but I would say we got them about 90% of the time (and had I kept riding, he would be solid by now).
He is about 13 years old. About 13.1 hh. White. Chubby. Imported from Ireland.
I am pregnant with #2 and don't see myself riding in the next 18-24 months. I would like to find him a rider (one person, I don't want him being a lesson horse). He can stay at my house, at my expense, until we sell our property. I am an hour east of Dallas. I have a barn and lighted arena. Once we sell our house, he'll be going to my mom's - pasture, no arena. Or - if you are the right person with the right place, he could move to your place (local - North Texas) and I will pay for feet (he's barefoot) and routine vet care but not board/training. I am open to someone showing him - I really want him to have a job and not sit around for the next two years. Judges love him when he is at his best!
A contract would be required and I will visit!
He is not and never will be for sale.
