Maryland Horse Council Executive Director

The Maryland Horse Council has experienced new and exciting changes in 2018. To ensure continued growth, MHC is seeking a motivated professional to serve as its Executive Director.

The MHC’s Executive Director manages overall strategic and operational direction for MHC staff, programs, expansion, and execution of the MHC mission. The Executive Director enables the Board of Directors to fulfill its governance function and provides oversight of MHC’s major programs and initiatives including:

Member Services
Legislative Activities
The Equiery
Maryland Equine Transition Service

Responsibilities include program development, association management, board relations, external relations and communications, publication management, financial oversight, fundraising, and legislative activities. Contact us for a more detailed job description.

Job Requirements
The Executive Director must have experience in association, non-profit management, or small business management. An equine industry background is preferred.

Qualifications include:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience, plus
3 years’ experience in association, non-profit, or business management
Significant knowledge of issues impacting the equine industry
Excellent organization, prioritization, and attention to detail
Excellent written communication skills
Ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Ability to work independently and with a team
Ability to be flexible, think creatively, and solve unexpected problems
Ability to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends
Must be dependable with a strong work ethic
Legislative and/or publishing experience a plus

Position Reports To: President, Maryland Horse Council
Salary Range: $35,000 – $50,000 Commensurate with relevant experience
Location: Lisbon, Maryland
