Flowerhill Equestrian Centre in Ireland is a dream for cross country riders or fox hunters! If you are interested in a fox hunting or drag hunting holiday then we have packages including horse hire, transportation and excellent accommodation with the possibility to include cross country jumping as a warm-up. For those who just love to jump or who’d like to improve their jumping skills and confidence there is a wide-range of fences located on 250 acres of glorious Irish countryside – you can jump to your heart’s content! Your host, Oliver, is a former field master and current Huntsman who will advise you as you tackle the obstacles around you. He has around 60 working horses and will match you to a suitable steed, whatever your jumping experience. The horses are primarily Irish Sports Horses who have good jumping and hunting experience, courage and common sense.
This riding centre offers a huge range of obstacles with approximately 150 fences. These include walls, logs, ditches and manmade fences with many offering two or more height options allowing for different experience levels. Fences range from Novice level right up to Advanced Open – all riders should be confident at walk, trot and canter but nervous jumpers will find plenty of smaller, inviting fences whilst the confident riders can feel challenged. Those who prefer not to jump can still enjoy galloping the open fields or wading in the lakes and rivers, as well as joining in with local hound exercise or taking a hack to the local pub.
Guests are accommodated in a welcoming B&B in the local town of Portumna, just ten minutes or so by car from Flowerhill. There are lots of great pubs and restaurants in the area which provide wonderful evening meals and entertainment.
