Cazenovia College seeks an Equine Care Manager to assist in the management of the horses and staff at the Equine Education Center, ensuring that a smooth operation is presented to students, faculty, staff and visitors; and do so while maintaining a safe and effective teaching and learning environment.
Responsibilities: Oversight of staff to ensure proper care of a large equine learning facility. Ensure that facility is clean and orderly and the horses are well cared for – to include: clean stalls, clean aisles, horses well-groomed and medical needs attended to, tack room(s) clean and orderly, and horse laundry completed. Maintain records to include, vet, farrier, dental, etc., as well as other administrative duties. Ability to work normal hours when the College is closed for holidays/breaks/weather related conditions and to be on call 24 hours a day on a rotating basis with other management. Actively participate in recruitment activities including: facility tours, work with Program Director on recruitment efforts, etc.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or higher, Equine degree preferred. Applicants should have prior experience managing personnel and horses in a larger commercial or college facility. Must be able to lift objects over 50 pounds and climb ladders. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive the College’s truck and trailer, which requires this employee to have a “clean” driving record for at least the past three years.
