Bridgewater College, a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III, is seeking applications for the position of Assistant to the Director of Riding, to begin immediately. This is a 10 month, full-time position, reporting to the Director of Riding.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Teach Bridgewater College riding lessons (all levels).
Demonstrated abilities in administrative and record keeping duties for lesson program and
student records. Use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Provide coaching during all shows and practice sessions (all levels).
Handle all USEF, VHSA and SWVHJA (show, entries, fees, qualifications, reservations,
accommodations, etc.)
Drive horses (Dually Crew Cab and 6 horse head to head gooseneck trailer) and students to all
horse shows as required.
Coordinate with Stable Manager on horse care and preparation for coming shows and events.
Coaching duties in IHSA, IDA and/or Eventing as needed.
Assist Director of Riding with recruiting, open houses, tours, shows and other duties as assigned. • Teach lecture courses in the Equine Minor as assigned.
Possess general knowledge of IHSA, USEF, USEA, USDF, IDA, NCAA and ODAC policies for
governing equestrian sports and participation of student-athletes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
Demonstrated equestrian teaching, coaching and training
Riding experience as well as ability, skill and proficiency in schooling and showing of horses in hunter/jumpers. Skills in dressage and/or Eventing a plus.
Demonstrated leadership skills and effective communication and organizational skills
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the college’s auto insurance carrier
