Some riders have events that just go their way and for Jennie Brannigan, The Fork has proven to be her lucky place.
But it’s not just luck that gave Brannigan the CIC*** win this weekend. Brannigan’s never placed worse than third in the division with Nina Gardner’s Cambalda, and things have been looking up for the 27-year-old since last year.
Jennie Brannigan found herself in a familiar position with Nina Gardner’s Cambalda this afternoon as she jumped another stylish double-clear in the CIC*** at The Fork to slip into the lead headed into cross-country.
Brannigan and “Ping” rarely have rails in competition and they have an impressive track record at The Fork, winning in 2011, placing second in 2013 and third last year.
Liz Halliday-Sharp has led the dressage at several of her spring events on Fernhill By Night this season, but when given five minutes of warm up at The Fork CIC*** this morning, even she was understandably nervous about the outcome.
Throughout the weekend at The Fork, the scores in the CIC*** were extremely tight. Multiple three-, four- and even a five-way tie after dressage meant every rail and every second on cross-country would count.
