Young Rider Sydney Collier, of Ann Arbor, Mich., will head to the USEF Para-Equestrian Dressage National Championship and selection trials for the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games after winning this year’s Jonathan Wentz Memorial Scholarship. Collier will be showing Willi Wesley and NTEC Cuplee at the selection trials in Gladstone, N.J., June 2-5.

The U.S. Equestrian Team Foundation announced a new fundraising initiative, The Jonathan Wentz Memorial Challenge For High Performance Para-Dressage, on April 16, made possible through the generosity of Margaret H. Duprey and The Barnfield Foundation. The goal of the initiative is to raise $800,000 for high performance para-dressage. Duprey and the Barnfield Foundation have each pledged up to $200,000. They will each match, dollar for dollar, every gift commitment of $4,000 and above made by April 1, 2015.

The composition and remit of the FEI Endurance Task Force, announced by the FEI Executive Board on April 8, have been finalized.

The mission of the Task Force is to develop practical solutions to ensure horse welfare and a level playing field at endurance events globally, and to look at deploying modern technology to achieve the goals of equality and integrity in all endurance competitions.

On March 30, Fédération Equestre Internationale Vice Presidents John McEwen and Pablo Mayorga and FEI Secretary General Ingmar De Vos met with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, to discuss implementing the Endurance Strategic Planning Group recommendations to create a more equitable field of play and enhance the integrity of the endurance discipline.

Allegations that Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum rode a “ringer” on the winning United Arab Emirates team at the 2012 Longines World Endurance Championships at Euston Park, Great Britain, are being re-investigated.
