Mark Bellissimo, 55, is the founder, managing partner, and largest shareholder of a series of equestrian related entities which are focused on creating sport, entertainment, lifestyle, and commerce centered around the love of horses.

The new executive director of the U.S. Hunter Jumper Association, Janet Greenlee, doesn’t have a name familiar to most USHJA members. Greenlee, 59, has spent her career in communications and business management largely outside the equestrian world. She’ll start her tenure at the Association on Jan. 2, but is attending the USHJA Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Ga., held Dec. 8-12.

Sue Blinks first became a household name in the international dressage world with the expressive Flim Flam. Blinks and Flim Flam won team bronze at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and were part of the silver medal-winning team at the 2002 FEI World Equestrian Games (Spain).

Blinks, 55, and her current Grand Prix partner, Robin Hood, have won CDI Grand Prix classes in California, Quebec and Ontario. Based out of Leatherdale Farm West in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., Blinks is a popular clinician and trainer, in addition to her riding duties.

There aren’t many eventers out there with more three-day wins than William Fox-Pitt of Great Britain, and he’s currently one four-star away from winning the Rolex Grand Slam. He’s agreed to a series of interviews and updates as he prepares for the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton CCI****.

You’ve had a tremendous season so far with a four-star win in Kentucky, team silver at the London Olympic Games and now a victory in the Fidelity Blenheim Palace International CCI***. How do you feel it’s gone?

Reed Kessler,16, was no stranger to victory at a young age. Two years ago, when she was just 14, she captured the $15,000 Show Jumping Hall Of Fame Junior Jumper Classic at Devon (Pa.) as well as the Pessoa/USEF Hunt Seat Medal at the same show. She went on to become the USEF individual junior jumper gold medalist at the Pennsylvania National. But she’s had her eyes on even bigger prizes in the last two years, expanding her competition schedule to include more grand prix classes and international events.

At 14, Taylor Ann Adams, now 17,  had already made her mark in the equitation ring, winning the 2007 USEF Pony Medal Finals (Lexington, Ky.) in a class of 200 entries. That same year, her first year showing junior hunters, she piloted Lyle to the small junior, 15 and under, title and tied for the grand junior hunter championship at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show. In 2010, she and Rosalynn took the large junior, 16-17, overall championship at the National Junior Hunter Finals-East.

Victoria Colvin, 13, started 2011 by cleaning up on the Florida circuit. She finished the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington with circuit championships in the large green pony hunter division aboard For The Love and in the small junior hunter, 15 and under, division with Sanzibar. She proved she can hang with the pros and saw great success with Scott Stewart’s Inclusive, placing third in Round 1 of the $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby. On April 24 she topped 31 entries in the $25,000 Equestrian Sport Productions Spring 6 Grand Prix (Fla.) with Monsieur Du Reverdy.

Buck, the documentary that chronicles the story of real life “Horse Whisperer” Buck Brannaman, opened around the country on June 17. After the Los Angeles screenings of the movie, Brannaman was on hand to answer questions about the filmmaking process, his life's work and more. Here’s a selection of some of his responses.

Q. How did filmmaker Cindy Meehl sell you on the idea of making a documentary about your life?

One of the course designers shares his philosophies behind this event and the series.

What was your vision for the Wellington Hunter Derby’s handy course?

The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association High Performance Hunter Committee developed the USHJA International Hunter Derby to bring the art and tradition of horsemanship back to the show ring.
