It's Going To Be A Battle Of The Titans In The Reem Acra FEI Dressage World Cup Final

They’ve set world records, swept the gold at the 2012 London Olympic Games and conquered their foes yet again at the 2013 European Championships (Denmark). But there are two major titles Valegro and British rider Charlotte Dujardin still need to capture to make their dressage dominance complete, and one is up for the taking this weekend in Lyon.

Genecand Announces Bid For FEI Presidency

It still remains to be seen whether members of the Fédération Equestre Internationale will vote to change the organization’s statutes to allow two-term incumbent president HRH Princess Haya to run for a third time, but no matter the outcome when they convene for an extraordinary general assembly on April 29 in Lausanne, Switzerland, Pierre Genecand says he’ll be running in the next election for FEI president.

Dressage rider Silva Martin has been transferred to the Pinecrest Rehabilitation wing of Delray Medical Center in Delray Beach, Fla., where she was originally medevac’d following her fall on March 5.

UPDATED: Silva Martin's Condition

Grand Prix dressage rider Silva Martin, who suffered a serious head injury in a fall from a young horse on Wednesday, March 5, is not out of the woods yet.

Martin began smiling and speaking a bit on Friday and was able to communicate even better yesterday, but today “she’s had a bit of a battle,” according to her husband, four-star eventer Boyd Martin.

Martin Gets What He Came For At Red Hills CIC***

March 8—Tallahassee, Fla.

It’s going to be a long drive back to his wife’s hospital bedside tomorrow night, but Boyd Martin will be making the trip in style after clinching the Red Hills CIC*** win today aboard Trading Aces. And Silva, who’s recovering from a serious brain injury after a fall on Tuesday, will be happy to see her husband bringing home the bacon in the form of a one-year lease on a luxury SUV.

Last Call Stays First At Red Hills CIC***

March 7—Tallahassee, Fla.

She’s slogged through rain, she’s jumped through mud, and now Last Call has but one more phase standing between her and a mega-comeback story.  Today she and longtime rider Alexandra Knowles laid down a flawless show jumping performance over tacky turf to retain their dressage lead in the 48-horse Red Hills CIC*** division.

Fox-Pitt Ekes Out A Pau Win; Dutton Finishes Fourth

Pau, France—Oct. 27

William Fox-Pitt pulled off a win at Les Etoiles de Pau CCI**** today, but it turned out to be much more of a nail-biter than many had expected for the man who’d come into show jumping in first, second and third place.

In contrast to yesterday, when it seemed Fox-Pitt could do no wrong, the Brit managed nary a clear round today, pulling a rail apiece aboard Seacookie and Cool Mountain and a dismal five with Neuf de Coeurs.

Fox-Pitt Shocks With A Trifecta; Four U.S. Riders In Top 12 At Pau

In a stunning feat, William Fox-Pitt showed the world how Pierre Michelet’s cross-country course was meant to be done at Les Etoiles de Pau CCI**** today, riding all three of his mounts—Seacookie, Cool Mountain and Neuf de Coeurs—to the top of the leaderboard, respectively.

Management Dispute Prompts Palm Beach Dressage Derby Cancelation

The 2014 Palm Beach Dressage Derby CDI-W, slated for Feb. 26-March 2 in Loxahatchee, Fla., has been canceled due to disputes within its management team.

Derby executive director Mary Anne McPhail, who hosts the competition annually at her White Fences Equestrian Estates, fired show managers International Horse Sport Palm Beach on Oct. 18. Both McPhail and the IHSPB team declined to answer questions but issued prepared statements.
