It’s that time of year again, when hundreds of ponies descend upon the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington to compete at USEF Pony Finals. Get ready for horsemanship quizzes, scavenger hunts, golf cart decorating, pizza parties, model clinics and, oh yes, serious hunter, jumper and equitation competition as well. The week attracts a wide variety of riders and ponies, from those looking to have fun and revel in the activities around the horse park, to those aiming for ribbons at the show where the best in the country go head-to-head.

Who: Check out the qualifying lists for the hunter ponies, green hunter ponies and the pony medal.

When: The competition runs from Tuesday, Aug. 6, to Sunday, Aug. 11

Where: The Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. The hunters compete in the Rolex Arena, the jumpers compete in the Claiborne Ring, and the USEF Pony Medal Final takes place in the Alltech Arena.

Competition Schedule (all times Eastern):

Tuesday

11 a.m. Medium pony hunter model and under saddle, then small green hunter model and under saddle

Wednesday

7 a.m. Small pony hunter model and under saddle, then medium pony hunter over fences, then small green pony hunter over fences

Thursday

7 a.m. Medium green pony hunter model and under saddle, then large green pony hunter model and under saddle, then small pony hunter over fences
3 p.m. Pony jumper individual competition phase I

Friday

7 a.m. Large pony hunter model and under saddle, then medium green pony hunter over fences and large green pony hunter over fences
3 p.m. Pony jumper individual competition phase II and team championship

Saturday

7 a.m. Large pony hunter over fences
2:30 p.m. Pony jumper farewell class
4 p.m. Pony jumper individual final

Sunday

7 a.m. Marshall & Sterling/UESF Pony Medal Final, mediums to start, then larges then smalls.
