What You Need To Know: 2023 USEA American Eventing Championships

The USEA American Eventing Championships are returning this week to Lexington, Kentucky, where some of the best eventers are ready to show off all their hard work. The featured competition is the $60,000 Adequan USEA Advanced Final, with more than 30 of the country’s top horses entered, but riders will be contesting championships in every division from advanced to beginner novice.

Along with the competition itself, USEA will be offering on-grounds educational activities, including grooming sessions hosted by the USEA Grooms’ Program and open course walks with five-star riders for the beginner novice through preliminary level cross-country throughout the week. When: Tuesday-Sunday. All times listed below are Eastern.

Tuesday, Aug. 29 

8:20 a.m.-3:48 p.m. Dressage for intermediate; Bates preliminary horse, rider, junior/young rider and amateur; modified rider and open divisions

Wednesday, Aug. 30

8:24 a.m.-4:18 p.m. Dressage for training rider, training amateur, training junior and training horse

8:27 a.m.-2:03 p.m. $60,000 Adequan USEA Advanced Final dressage

8 a.m.-5:24 p.m. Cross-country for all modified, preliminary and intermediate divisions

Thursday, Aug. 31

8:24 a.m.- 5:06 p.m.  Dressage for all novice divisions—15 and under, horse, amateur, master amateur, junior and rider

8:45-10:27 a.m. Advanced cross-country

11:24 a.m.-5:04 p.m. Cross-country for all training divisions

9 a.m.-8:45 p.m. Show jumping for all modified, preliminary and intermediate divisions

Friday, Sept. 1

8:24 a.m.-4:36 p.m. Dressage for all beginner novice divisions—14 and under, amateur, rider, junior, master amateur and horse

8 a.m.-5:34 p.m. Cross-country for all novice divisions

9 a.m.-5 p.m. Show jumping for all training divisions

6:30-8:30 p.m. Advanced show jumping

Saturday, Sept. 2

7:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Show jumping for all novice divisions

Sunday, Sept. 3

How You Can Watch: There will be livestreaming of the action at Horse & Country. This requires a membership, but USEA members get a 15% discount. All beginner novice and novice divisions will be available to stream for free, Sept. 1-3 on Horse & Country.

Livestream schedule:

  • Aug. 29 – intermediate and preliminary dressage
  • Aug. 30 – advanced dressage, intermediate, preliminary and modified cross-country
  • Aug. 31 – advanced, modified and training cross-country, and preliminary and intermediate show jumping
  • Sept. 1 – advanced and training show jumping, and novice cross-country
  • Sept. 2 – novice show jumping and beginner novice cross-country
  • Sept. 3 – beginner novice show jumping
