Weber Wins WEG Driving Test Event

Chester Weber swept the driving test event for the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, held Aug. 23-25 in Caen, France. Weber’s final score of 108.24 put him ahead of Germany’s Ludwig Weinmayr (125.54) and Great Britain’s Georgina Hunt (132.76).

Twelve drivers and 60 horses representing seven nations took part in the test event. More than 200 volunteers were mobilized.

“I was very impressed with the facilities and the organization of these three days,” said Weber. “I enjoyed the marathon.”

An eventing test event, a CCI**, was also held Aug. 16-18, at Le Pin National Stud in Caen. Italy’s Vittoria Panizzon won with Merlot’s Magic, and U.S. rider Elisabeth Halliday finished 12th with HHS Cooley.

The endurance test event, a CEI**, took place Aug. 16 in Sartilly. HE Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum won. See full results for all three test events on the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games website. The 2014 WEG will take place Aug. 23-Sept. 7 next year.
