Lexington, Ky.—Aug. 19
Tori Colvin has gone down in the history books as the first rider win the Platinum Performance USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship with three different horses, and her latest winning mount is Bryan Baldwin’s El Primero.
You can catch up on all of the Chronicle’s online coverage, and make sure to check out the Sept. 2 issue of the print magazine for a more in-depth look at the horses and riders making headlines over the weekend.
We pulled together the footage of her winning rides from the last three years, so you can relive the excitement. All videos courtesy of EQSports.net.
This year’s winner El Primero led the class from start to finish.
In 2018, the stunning chestnut Private Practice jumped his way into the record books.
Cuba helped Colvin take her first win in 2017. (We only have her handy round from this year.)
While Colvin certainly had the spotlight on her, she wasn’t the only one with a big weekend. West Coast professional Nick Haness rode in the championship for the first time, and he made a name for himself, taking second overall and topping the Section B championship as well with Verdict.
For those who didn’t make it into the handy round, they had one last shot at earning some prize money in the Challenge Round, and Holly Shepherd piloted High Society to the win there.
