After their fastest wasn’t quite fast enough to win the grand prix at the Devon Horse Show (Pennsylvania) on June 2, Schuyler Riley and Robin De Ponthual traveled south to Upperville, Virginia, with a point to prove.
On Sunday, the pair went full throttle to top the $216,000 Upperville Jumper Classic CSI4* at the Upperville Colt & Horse Show.
“I was very determined today,” Riley said after her win. “I had a second place at Devon with ‘Robin.’ He’s been jumping amazing, so going into the jump-off my plan was to go as fast as I could go. And we did.”

The pair had a moment at the penultimate fence in the jump-off when they missed their distance slightly, but the experienced 17-year-old Selle Français gelding (Elf D’Or—Io De La Grange, Calypso D’Herbiers), owned by Katherine Gallagher, sorted his feet without problem.
“Where I had the chip, I was actually still faster chipping,” Riley said. “I said, my quote of the day is, ‘Me chipping is faster than adding.’ ”
